Let’s Build Saint Nazaire! WW2 Terrain Project Part #4 – Painting Buildings & A Big Reveal!
April 11, 2024 by johnlyons
Gerry continues with his plans to revamp one of our old boards and some of the terrain for Spring Clean Hobby Challenge 2024. The idea is to build this using inspiration from Operation Chariot, crafting a Saint Nazaire port and dock from World War II for games of Bolt Action and 02 Hundred Hours in 28mm.

In this final video, John and Gerry show off the process of painting all of the terrain that we're using for the board build. This means exploring how to paint different buildings in a redbrick style, in concrete and of course all of the metal structures too.
With the buildings finished, the only thing left to do is a brand reveal where we show off the final board and get ready to play some games on it!

Glad to see this one completed. Think you might go back later and wire it up?
I like the Sarissa kits but I struggle to get paint on them. Now I’ve got some new techniques to try.
Build all the walls!
50 pound voucher, imagine all the women and blow i can buy with that!
Your GW branded spray booth looks a little cheaper than I expect from them.
The finished project looks great!
0200 Hours is one of those games I want to try. Maybe I’ll pick it up at UK Games Expo.
table looks good but i am even more interested in game
Great to see you guys doing a table build and showing your work again. That was sorely missing in the terrain fest series. Good job on a nice board!
So when will we see 0200 play through?
just have to finish the minis, they’re missing some details and basing, then teach whoever I’m playing the game
Looks good guys. Does 0200hrs have an Italian campaign? Could you say maybe justify a Rome board? #stopsallinglloydand #buildgerrysrome
I think I would have got too caught up on the weathering. But it’s something that can always be done later if desired.
Looks great. The mix of different coloured buildings and components really adds to making it feel real.
I love sarissa , have their dark age hamlet it was a good kit
i love sarrisa , they do some darn fine kits
Nice table, some interesting ideas, hopefully might get to play on it if come over in Sept/Oct .
Although you have done it for WW2 , it will do for all sorts of games, Boot Legging in old Chicago, Spec OPs etc.
What a great table, another awesome one for the team. There’s definitely some techniques I’m going to try!! Well done 🙂

shame gerry didn’t highlight each brick…. clearly his heart wasn’t in it since the loss of Rome
memento roma
Thanks for sharing this process – I picked up a few great tips! All we need now is some battle reports…
they’ll be coming soon, just need to based the minis you saw on the table and teach the others how it plays
Lovely final result. You have shown us a lovely range of techniques, I particularly liked the stencil brickwork to liven-up the flatter mdf pieces. Looking forward to seeing you play the game.
Looks great! I really like the different levels.
Looks really good, glad to see this completed – now for a game report!
