Let’s Build Saint Nazaire! Operation Chariot WW2 Terrain Project Part #1 – The Plan

Gerry and John start going over their plans to revamp one of our old boards and some of the terrain for Spring Clean Hobby Challenge 2024. The idea is to build this using inspiration from Operation Chariot, crafting a Saint Nazaire port and dock for games of Bolt Action and 02 Hundred Hours in 28mm.

In this first part of the series, Gerry and John discuss the cleaning and repair of the board as well as adding a new coat of paint to the project. They are go over their plans to populate it with World War II terrain using those from Battlefield Accessories and Sarissa Precision.

Interested to see the rebuild progress.
I love the idea of updating the water that’s currently on the board, then creating a topper platform that can be placed over it to extend the land to cover. That stretches out the playability of the board. For the drydock, have the cradle removable do you can “flood” it by placing a sheet of textured plastic into the dock, then replace the cradle. That would signify a slight flood. Then make another sheet that sits on top of the cradle for a deep flood. Given that Warlord have done a specific model of the Campbeltown, any thoughts on the possibility of a secondary board for Cruel Seas to play out the approach to St Nazaire and the battle in the estuary whilst the Commandos were blowing up chunks of the dock?

I had completely forgotten about this table I remember watching the original build, fantastic series just finished watching it from start to finish.
