Germans Get Warm In Winter Clothing For Warlord’s Bolt Action
December 12, 2015 by brennon
Following on from the addition of US Infantry in winter clothing from last week we have the Germans kitted out in their warmest wraps now too. See what you think of Warlord's metal Infantry Squad for the Grenadiers in Bolt Action...
Inside this set you get a good bunch of models for use with an expanding Winter force..
- 1 NCO with SMG
- 2 men with Rifles
- 3 men with Rifles and Panzer Fausts
- 1 man with Assault Rifle and Panzer Faust
- 1 man with Assault Rifle
- 2-man MG42 light machine gun team
...and you can see them here below all nicely painted up. The Germans have got a similar style to that of the Americans but with much brighter whites instead of the greens and brown hues. Still, the winter clothing would only help them so much and there were plenty of cases of the Germans not having enough of this kit.
You can also get your hands on an MMG Team, Command options and also a PaK Gun done in the same style as these winter troops. They're well worth checking out and I would imagine we might see more support for them soon too via vehicles.
Will you be choosing the Germans?

This winter range smacks of so much to use it with and I know I am going to upset the purists out there, but the winter guys would suit so many games in 28mm and not just the straight WW2, might even look to add some to my 40k Valhallan’s or also the 28mm extended WW2 ideas we are going down, that might well include the likes of fighting a post nuclear winter type apocalypse, again rules almost sorted. Possibly need a couple of play testers.
I think those are great ideas! Play testing different scenario/game uses for any miniatures is what makes tabletop gaming more immersive and enjoyable. Anyone who tells me what I should, or worse, shouldn’t, use my figures for doesn’t deserve to participate in my gaming. 😀
Very much agree.
I honestly think that what you are talking about here is precisely the intent of some of this stuff with Warlord and other ranges. I think GW knows this (not just with Warlord but many other ranges) and has thus begun to adjust their range/games towards silly big/stupid expensive stuff … away from the 3rd-5th ed. era scale/scope which the Warlord range is well suited for.
In our gaming group we have had many conversations about just returning to 4th/5th ed. 40K and using these expansive alternative ranges that now exist …
I really was counting on those being plastics!!
Very disappointed 🙁
Nice but those are not for me.
Can only hope there will be some non-grenadier set as well
I don’t think the pre-grenadiers got winter gear. They just froze to death in normal uniform.
(probably).
The Bolt Action winter ranges are looking very nice. Always meant to have an Ardennes campaign in snowy terrain one day. I think a weird war twist would be fun! 😛
nice.
Can anyone help out with a question. I have bought Warlord WWII plastics recently, but not their metals. Have the quality of the casts and sculpts of their metal miniatures improved over the past couple of years? I enjoys the new plastics and all the options they offer. I was not that impressed with the metals from a few years back. I love the look of these and the American winter soldiers, but not sure on quality. Anyone with some expertise your help would be appreciated.
