Download New Bolt Action Painting Guides
April 10, 2015 by dracs
Warlord Games have come out with some new downloadable painting guides to help you get your Bolt Action armies ready for war.
The four main national forces of Bolt Action, namely Britain, U.S.A, Germany and the Soviet Union, each have their own painting guide available, detailing the different stages that go into painting both standard infantry and tanks.
These guides take you through all the steps needed to get your army ready for the gaming table, including undercoating, base coats, washes, highlighting and basing. The fact that they cover both infantry and tanks means they will provide your with painting skills that can then be transferred across the rest of the miniatures that might feature in your army.
All in all, Warlord's downloads seem like a handy guide, especially for beginner painters and / or historical newbies like myself who wouldn't know the appropriate colours for our faction's uniforms.
Would you use these guides?

A bit crap that they charge for them. These should be in the starter sets, plastic infantry boxes etc.
Definitely seems a bit cheeky charging for them. There are plenty of free guides online, I’ve used this one generally: http://www.artizandesigns.com/painting-guides.php
That or offer a free download with any purchase of models. I like that they put this together though. Mind you there are many great free video tutorials on line that can be referenced. Either way more information is good information at the end of the day.
Are those German soldiers infected with green ectoplasm or similar? Immediately put me off even looking at them yet alone paying for them.
I’ll be interested to see how this goes!
I suspect that this is aimed more at the new to the hobby or ex GW converts who are used to getting all their stuff in one place and aren’t worried about paying for it. I don’t think this is for gamers who are more used to shopping around and doing their own research.
The other option would have been to make this free and treat it more as an advertising opportunity to show off their models.
I’d be more inclined to pay for them if I was getting a physical copy!
Looking at the Warlord forum the admin are doing a bit of back pedaling already
To be honest I wasn’t really back peddling just explaining why we charged for them and explaining that we do listen to what the community say.
For a $1.50 you can’t really ask for nicer guides.
