I am very much a ‘regulars’ player when it comes to force composition. I have not had the chance to play Bolt Action but I feel having more activation’s certainly allows for flexibility despite losing some punch and durability with individual units. Of course who doesn’t like the idea of elite squads? 🙂
i have to say i have both elite and normal forces so i will play what i fancy, but hell the red devils are awesome:-)
I prefer vets in 9 man squads but that just suits me. I have not found the rules favour any unit composition. It is all about what feels best for your own style of play.
I feel having more dice in the bag and more units to deploy invaluable. I tend to run mechanised platoons with loads of trucks and jeeps. It enables me to run troops up the board and often get 3 or 4 orders before my opponent. If I am waiting for my opponent to commit, I’ll set ambushes where I can just on the off chance he will blunder into my Los or forget they ate there. I use them as Mobile MMG nest to cover my infantry with a medic or artillery observer inside
Good use for a an air or arty observer. Once they have called in the strikes, they are not much use but it’s important not to risk them as it could be the points that can win or loose you the Ga. E, depending on the scenarios obviously.
I’m not sure about the medic gunning swathes of the enemy down though. …
