Bolt Action 2nd Edition & Konflikt ’47 Coming This Year
April 8, 2016 by brennon
Warlord Games have announced that a new edition of Bolt Action is coming this year. The 2nd Edition of both the Rulebook and Armies of Germany will be coming in the Autumn of 2016. They also have news on the launch date of Konflikt '47 where things get all Weird World War...
Bolt Action 2nd Edition
All games need to be refined and eventually the FAQ documents have to turn into proper changes. So, they are updating the rules using existing FAQ material and errata to make the game more streamlined and refined.
"This second edition presents streamlined and refined rules, incorporating all the FAQs and errata compiled, with the help of the Bolt Action community, over the four years of extensive gameplay since Bolt Action was first launched.
The new rulebook remains fully compatible with all of the existing range of army books, theatre books and models."
Armies of Germany as you can see above is also getting an overhaul...
"Revised and expanded, this book provides players with all of the information they need to command Germany’s military might. Detailed unit options and theatre selectors allow players to build armies for any of Germany’s campaigns, from the Blitzkrieg against Poland and France, through North Africa and the Eastern Front, to the fall of Normandy and the defence of Germany.
They have also stipulated that the rest of the Armies books won't be seeing updates and that they are all compatible with the new 2nd Edition of Bolt Action that will hit later this year.
Konflikt '47 & Weird World War
As well as the actual Historical battling there is also more news on Konflikt '47 and a lovely piece of cover art.
You expect to play this game made in partnership with Clockwork Goblin in Summer 2016 so not too far away!
"Konflikt ’47 is a standalone game inspired by the hugely successful Bolt Action. Adding to the core rules that many gamers are familiar with from Bolt Action, Konflikt ’47 allows the addition of completely new types of units and models to existing 28mm Bolt Action armies and the creation of completely new forces set in the alternate future of 1947."
It will be interesting to see how many people cross over and start using some of their existing Bolt Action forces for this new game. I like that they're adding in the new contraptions but retaining a lot of what makes World War II what it is.
What do you think of these developments?

Was there something ‘wrong’ with the German army book compared to the other expansions ?
While it is nice to see that only the core rulebook is getting the update it is a bit confusing to someone not familliar with the system.
There was nothing ‘wrong’ with the Germany book. But, it did suffer a bit from “first army book” syndrome as the power level crept up ever so slightly with the rest of the army books. Mostly from a National Characteristic perspective.
I am sure all of the other army books will get a second edition release along the line, they will just be putting out the second ed. for Germany along with the second ed. rulebook.
I guess that makes sense.
However in the press release they say that they won’t do that to the other books.
Then again … Corvus Belli also initially claimed that only the core rules would be updated.
Stuff can still change.
I guess it will depend on how 2nd edition is received and if it highlights any flaws they didn’t expect.
Konflict ’47 a stand alone – might not ned to buy the updated rules ? Love the Clockwork Goblin stuff, and i might be able to get some of my 15mm late WWII stuff finished now.
So I get a trade in value for all the books I bought this last year right? I know this happens, but why is it that it happens every damn time I get into the game.
They’re only replacing two books.
Maybe you can make a little money by collecting donations from folks who want their favorite games updated…
I’m not expecting a massive load of rule changes here (or I’m hoping not, it’s a very good game with a few small flaws IMO). You might be able to do this with a v1 rulebook and some Post-it notes 🙂
Well I can dream can’t i?
I am pretty excited, I really hope they address some of the issues with city fighting, scenarios be focused mostly on kills and the Germans really could use a little boost. Also I can’t wait to get some tesla cannons on my Soviet tanks!
I just hope 2nd edition has an index
No kidding! The mini rulebook that you get with the Tank War box set had an index. I’m sure they will add that in.
Did anyone see the Castle there’re puttnig out? Awesome, but expensive.
I’m sure my regular gaming group are really happy for me. Now that my Germans are about to get improved. 🙂
Mmm, konflict 47 could be a good reason to play my Dust miniatures.
New German book, can’t wait to see the improvements.
I am assuming that if we own the digital versions they will rerelease those instead of just updating them electronically. Anyone have any (hopefully) better info?
Looking forward to both the second edition and Konflict 47.
Mega excited about Konflikt 47, can’t wait to see what stuff is put out for it!
It doesn’t sound like nearly enough of a change for me to bother with. Frankly, as an RPG player from the 90’s, I wasn’t a fan of the splat (read: Armies of…) books. I personally think that most units could have been listed in the main book if the short description/production numbers were left out. Any casual search of the internet could yield the information on a particular unit if the player really cared to learn more. Additionally, the theater selectors were just to generic to really worry about or could have been included in more the applicable theater books.… Read more »
