More Weapon Ideas:
12″ LP’s (That’s a record @dignity) from fine artists such as Go West, Banannarama, Strawbery Switchblade and my personal favourite Rah Band (Clouds Across the Moon Preferably!)
Cricket Bat
Petrol Ride On Lawn Mower 😉
Justin, Just for you mate as you’re all loved up these days 😉

That was a great snogging track at the end of a disco, man I feel old now.
Can’t believe @warzan is old enough to appreciate Strawberry Switchblade, that is truly rock’in.
You guys gotta run a ‘caption contest’ for the picture above about what the zombie in the green sweatshirt is doing/looking at behind him. Every other single zombie has his/her eye on the brains and this joker is having a chat-up with one behind him. Great stuff.
He’s probably searching for his friend, the laughing zombie ( on the left side. )
Weapon must haves:
Hedge clippers
Golf club (9 iron or wedge)
Giant spanner
RPGs great but they are 1 shot weapons, AS weapons typical 30 round mag, rifles 6 round mag, pump shotguns 8 round mags, pistols 15 round mag or 6 shot. A change mag rule? (this would simulate reloading) takes one action. (AS weapons can be fired single shot, 3 round burst or full auto (if you want to empty your mag in one shot)
hmmmm… reloading might work but i was kinda going for that 80’s/90’s action film feel where guns never run out of ammo 🙂
Awesome vlog, great to see behind the scenes. More please.
The game sounds good, it’s zombies meets zombicide.
Idea… Why don’t you choose a path when you’ve reach 5 kills… Either close-combat oriented or ranged combat oriented… This way, you can design 5 kick-ass guns (as you already did) and 5 means to get up close and personal with these stinking corpses! Once you’ve chosen, though, you can’t come back… As soon as you pick a card, it’s too late to change your mind. So let’s say you start with a screwdriver (you’re welcome @warzan) and, if you choose the close-combat path you get: 5 kills: a carpenter’s hammer 10 kills: a baseball bat 20 kills: a fireman’s… Read more »
I love this ‘tech tree’ idea!
Justin you should have a good think around this mate, as forcing choices is a great game mechanic 🙂
I do like the idea, @happyhowler what stats would you give to each weapon? oh and don’t forget once you hit 50 kills the game is over you’ve won 🙂
Ok let’s see… Range is always 0 so we have to give the player a little something to help him survive but, overall, I’d follow the lines of what you’ve created for ranged weapons… Something like this. 5 kills: Baseball bat; hits on a 4+. Can use bullet tokens to add to your score. You can move once after you attack. 10 kills: Fireman’s axe; hits on a 3+. Can use bullet tokens to add to your score. You can move once after you attack. 20 kills: Katana; hits on a 3+. Can use bullet tokens to add to your… Read more »
Oops. The Molotov Cocktail should have a range of 1 square (throwing range).
looks good i’ll add it to the top think the thrown idea is good but lets make it 2 squares for the range.
Justin did I hear you say “Kickstarter”, lol. Sounds like fun.
lol na this is just something i thought would be fun for all the backstagers to have a play with.
🙂
And fun for me!!!!!
how about suitably placed gas bottles, which explode when shot? Other suitable tools for the job, garden fork, hoe, trowel (there’s got to be a certain element of crappy items avail to get that Shaun of the dead feel) 🙂
2 Things
1) GAS BOTTLES OMG YES! With a roll off to see if its explosive (Kill Stuff) or US Military Toxic Gas (Generates even more Zombies!)
2) When faced with a lonely existence during the zombie apocalypse, a hoe would come in very handy 😛
sounds like a good idea lets flesh out the rules we’d need for this and see how they would fit in and we need a way to tell where the gas bottles would turn up, perhaps on a 6+ when every 2nd or 3rd tile is placed on the map?
I would just do a straight 6+ for every new tile 🙂
ok and what then odd vs. even for explosive and z gas?
one more thought from myself on this, im thinking of plating about the movement speed of the zombies, you get 100 in the base game so im thinking if you add color to the bases so red yellow and green you could pick the zombies at random so red would move 3 squares, yellow would move 2 and green would move 1, if you split it up so you have 20 re 30 yellow and 50 green it might make an interesting change to the game, tho im thinking i’d have to change the noisy rule so that zombies within… Read more »
Starting to get a little complex, and losing the ‘zombie feel’ matey.
The golden rule about zombies is… if its not scary enough… add more zombies!
Don’t make them quicker or your are straying from the formula 🙂
was only planning on adding one of the three depending on what people liked, but if you think its good as is i think i’ll leave it as is.
Because of your review i bought the game. Loads of fun. And now already more awesome rules 🙂
This sounds great. I hope you guys will follow it up with a live playthrough.
How about ripping through a game of Zombie Dice beforehand and the winner starts the board game with an advantage. Say, 5 zombie kills in the bank at the start of the game. Not game breaking, but helpful.
Unfortunately I don’t have my copy of the game to hand but if i remember correctly, when you die, you loose half of your zombies rounded up (?) Perhaps the Zombie Dice winner could loose half zombies rounded down for the duration of the game. Again, not game breaking, but just a little booster.
@dirgepilot not a bad idea but its adding another game to the mix, might be better to have each player roll one round with zombie dice aiming to get shots instead of brain’s get 5 brains and your survivor is killed and you start with no bonus, then you could have the number of shots you get as your starting total of kills?
