Zatu Games and Needy Cat Games have now hit up Kickstarter with their newest board game project, Steel Colosseum! Get stuck into some scrapyard mechanics and build the perfect robot for a clash on the tabletop. Activate!
Steel Colosseum Kickstarter // Zatu Games
A game of Steel Colosseum plays out as a competitive clash between one-to-four players. You'll dive in to a series of scraps called bouts between two teams of customisable fighting robots. A game of Steel Colosseum is played as a best of three bouts where players have a chance to upgrade and repair their robots to see if they can overcome their foes.
Steel Colosseum - How To Play // Zatu Games
Gameplay in Steel Colosseum is card-driven and each robot has its own unique Control Deck. Players will simultaneously reveal Control Cards for their robots and check their Speed Rating to see who acts first. You'll need to be clever with your card play though as Control Cards that are played are locked in until your robot powers down and rests. So, your options are going to dwindle throughout a bout!
When robots take damage, they shed Armour tokens which are dropped into the arena as Scrap. This Scrap can be then spent using the aforementioned upgrade system to offer up new ways to make your robots tick. The available upgrades are also randomised each time you play, offering up more tactical thinking.

What's In The Steel Colosseum Box?
When it comes to the campaign itself, the team have packed a lot into the core box for Steel Colosseum.

As you can see, the core box comes with a whole host of awesome options for those wanting to get stuck into a bit of robot-based mayhem. As well as these options, the team are also going to be adding Stretch Goals into the mix now they have busted through their funding goal. There are also social goals as well that can be unlocked by sharing the project as a backer.
Robot Fight Club was a lot of fun and it's nice to see that it has been implemented by Zatu and Needy Cat as Steel Colosseum. The artwork is fantastic and I think this could make for a great permanent addition to a game collection. Manufacture the perfect rivalry with another of your friends and make these bouts a weekly occurrence!

Yay it’s robot war’s Level 2.
I do sometimes think this site would be much better if from time to time articles like this (kickstarter plugs etc.) where revisited to let people know what has happened.
This was another heavily hyped kickstarter that failed.
I for one would really enjoy reading more stuff about why this happens(ed) from those people who were involved in production and promoting.
The behind the scenes stuff if you will.
