I am more than often finding hybrid board games which are combining two hobbies together, and it was a surprise to find
Sefirot by
Causa Creations live on Kickstarter.
Sefirot // Causa Creations
Tarot has become an increasingly popular practice nowadays, and Sefirot combines board game mechanics with the art of divination which is featured heavily in Tarot. Players will meet their true fate and destiny and overcome what is expected in the future of their adventure.
Sefirot // Causa Creations
The game can be played in "solitaire mode" as part of a solo Journey, where the tree of life that is clear on the board will become a pathway where players will meet their fate.
Sefirot // Causa Creations
Sefirot can also be accessed by two players as well with several different modes available, and a different board to access. Players can fight for the stars or even work together to see where the tapestry of fate lands them together.

The artwork on both the cards and the board is beautiful, and considering the importance of the Tarot deck, there were tactics behind the artwork by game designer Georg Hobmeier and artists Eli Baum & Viv Tanner, as they wanted to distinctively create a different deck which still incorporated the same themes, but would become iconic for the game:
For their inspiration, the creators chose the ancient island of Dioscoria. Based on esoteric tales, real pieces of history, and many strands of yarn between, this mystical place would become the heart of their ongoing creation.
I love the idea of incorporating tarot cards into a board game. As somebody who dabbles in Tarot herself, it will be interesting to see how the meanings of the individual cards can cause effect within the game, and how each of these cards with change the gameplay depending on how many players are involved.
What other hobbies do you have that you would like to see combined into a board or card game?
As advertised by septic pegg?
I remember the old 7th Sea RPG had some parts of character creation that you could do with a Tarot deck. I got the idea that it worked well, but our DM flaked out right after we all made characters.
I’m honestly surprised that there aren’t more games that can be played using Tarot cards.
These are very interesting cards. I believe that the practice of tarot is becoming more and more popular.
