WizKids Detail New Version Of GW Classic, Fury Of Dracula
April 18, 2018 by brennon
WizKids are now the custodians of Fury Of Dracula, last released onto the tabletop by Fantasy Flight Games. The epic game of one versus many as the Hunters track down Dracula across the globe is getting a new version which features pre-painted miniatures in entirely new designs.
The new version of the game will come with an updated rulebook, larger poker sized cards compared to the smaller ones provided by Fantasy Flight Games and it will cost less too. There hasn't been any word on whether or not the game has been mechanically altered yet but one assumes there will have been tweaks.
Here's a look at some of the characters...
Each of the characters in the game has their own abilities which make them indispensable in the hunt for Dracula. Mina Harker here is able to use her connection with Dracula to seek him out and find out where he resides.
Lord Goldaming uses his resources to be able to pay for enough weapons and equipment to sink a small ship and make sure everyone is prepared.
Doctor Seward, on the other hand, is very much as his name suggests. He keeps the rest of your team going as you make your way around the world.
Last but not least, of course, we have Van Helsing himself who has been summoned once more to bring down the deadly Dracula. He brings his learning and experience to the tabletop, uncovering lore and important information on Dracula.
Lastly, for the models, we have Dracula himself. Dracula has all manner of skills at his disposal allowing him to evade the tireless hunters. You can even ramp up the difficulty significantly (and I'd suggest doing it) to make Dracula harder to track.
Of course, all of these previews you see here are renders and not representative of the final pre-painted models you'll get in the game box. I think I would have preferred them to have left them blank so that people could paint them at their leisure and kept the detail that you see in the designs crisper.

From the preview image on the sidebar for a second I thought Dracula’s looked like vampire Superman. 😆
Assuming the game won’t change much, I’d recommend people check out the episodes of Wil Wheaton’s TableTop where he played this.
> Are you a fan of Fury Of Dracula? I am and I have the FFG version but I appreciate the changes. I will be “trying” to sell my old copy to fund this new one but that will be hard as all the changes they are making especially if they streamlined the rules book will be well worth the upgrade. The FFG miniatures were 15mm and nothing to write home about. I hope we get 28mm. I still hate the Van Helsing figure they have and rather they used the Dark Horse Comic version Van Helsing from the cover… Read more »
I hope they release they in their unpainted line; their prepainted make me sad.
I’ll be keeping my FFG version. I trust Wizkids about as far as I can comfortably spit up a rat. Their component quality just isn’t. Prepare for paper thin cards warped boards.

And boy will you notice the difference when you compare the two. The cost saving has to come from somewhere. FFG may be on the pricy side, but their quality is well worth it. I’ve never seen anything by WizKids that’s been worth the price, even when it hasn’t been expensive.
Seems interesting. I must admit that before this I didn’t even know that Fury of Dracula even exists.
I finally got to play 3rd edition this weekend and absolutely LOVED it, but was sad to see how expensive the game is if you get it from eBay. Not sure how much of the game I enjoyed will survive contact with WizKids.
Lord Goldaming looks a bit like Sean Connery´s younger brother. Very good, and all the minis are very well painted, in my opinion. If they really come prepainted as they´re shown here, that´s something!
For vampyre fanatics this is a must, I think. I hope you will show us a bit more of this game on BoW.
i remember still remember my cousin picking it up at games day way back when.
