Spiel Des Jahres & Kennerspiel Winners Announced!
July 17, 2017 by brennon
The winners for the Spiel des Jahres and Kennerspiel des Jahres 2017 have now been announced and the accolades went to Kingdomino and Exit: The Game!
Both games are very worthy winners of the prestigious awards. Having played both of these games I can say they really do hit the nail on the head for their respective categories.
Kingdomino
Kingdomino is a fantastic kingdom builder without all of the frills. It manages to make simple tile placement and drafting mechanics work with plenty of tactical thinking behind your decisions. It's a delightful puzzle to put together and well worth snapping up.
EXIT: The Game
This series really does bring the Exit Room feel to the tabletop. Each set comes with puzzles you have to solve as a team and whilst I've only played The Abandoned Cabin the rest of the series promises to be a fantastic adventure to delve into.
With three sets already published and three more on the way, this looks like it's going to be a great repeat performer.
Have you played either of these great games?

I’ve also got The Abandoned Cabin, though haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Will have to break it out this week to mark the occasion. Congratulations to both of these and to Ice Cool on its Kinderspiel award 🙂
Interesting. I was hoping for Terraforming Mars, but I’ve not played any kind of exit style games.
