Mythic Battles: Pantheon Welcomes Hector & The High Flying Bellerophon Soon
November 17, 2016 by brennon
As the game closes in on the next million dollar mark Mythic Games show off what's on the horizon for Mythic Battles: Pantheon. Leading the way we have Hector, a heroic figure from the Trojan War...
He is shown standing proud with sword held high. Despite his unfortunate end he was a legendary commander of astounding skill in commanding soldiers and with his sword.
Not only does he have a way of controlling the battlefield with Wall of Troy but with Hector's Bravery you can start to 'stack the deck' in your favour, allowing you to charge troops into battle.
Heroes Of Troy
It wasn't just Hector who fought during the Trojan War as Mythic Games has put together a Hero Set which will be available to snap up as an add-on.
A number of different characters are included within this set including the angry Agamemnon, but I picked out two of my favourites with the hulking Ajax...
...and the decidedly more lithe looking Penthesilea.
Ajax is a powerhouse of a warrior looking to crush his foes in battle with that mighty hammer. He can avoid even the most deadly damage that comes his way and if he doesn't slay his foes his shame gets the better of him!
Penthesilea is more of an inspiring leader, giving bonuses to her troops when she fights alongside them. When the Amazon dies she also confers a Mourn Token on the unit that did so. They are negatively effected by this, not being able to retaliate or use powers.
Take To The Skies
The most impressive addition to the collection right now will be Bellerophon who is the next big unlock for the game. See what you think of him atop his winged horse, Pegasus.
He looks fantastic and will be included as a Stretch Goal so that means those who pick up the main pledge will get him included in their bundle.
Rules-wise he is a deadly warrior who can zip around the tabletop with ease. Pegasus' Grace allows him to avoid getting caught off guard by retaliating enemies and Friend of the Muses means you'll be able to activate him effectively.
What do you think?

I wanna see Bellerophon painted. I’m struggling to see any ears on the model of the pegasus. I reckon it might be noticeable if painted! but either way, I’m so glad to see this KS go from strength to strength
The lower picture has what might be an ear. Might.
Now that I look closely, you may be right! but I also detect what might be some photoshoppery so I don’t think its the finished sculpt. Only time will tell!
This game just gets better and better. It’s amazing what $99 gives you already, and I suspect there is much more to come!
This is going so well. And the constant surprises of content, it blows my mind.
Drool!
Was a very nice stretch goal to wake up to :). The campaign is probably only around half the total it’ll wind up with, maybe less, and there’s already loads of stuff. The mind boggles as to where this could all end up.
I find myself going to the KS page every day and drooling over my keyboard just looking at the quality AND quantity of the stuff. If this keeps up Im gonna have to adopt the Cartman-Wii technique – try and freeze myself in time as the wait til this actually gets released will drive me insane.
The Conan KS was stupendous but I think this one is even better – a pity more people are not joining it but even so rapidly closing on the $1million mark.
I’m hoping we see a Kraken, I’m sure we will and if so then there has to be a place for Perseus and Andromeda too – I want to get my Clash of the Titans on!
I think that might be the most requested thing that definitely won’t be in the game lol. It seems that the Norse Kraken was short of work in the early 80s so took a role in a movie to make ends meet lol.
Hmm this is true… Damn Hollywood and its twisting of mythological beasts. Well I hope we get something big and beastly
Ah, ***ew the name. Don’t fall for the Hollywood trap.
No real need for it to be called Kraken. If it had been called Pharachon, Kythartos, Dairophem(os) or so there’d be no problem at all.
Awwww yeah! Those are really good looking models.
Wow… more must-have’s. It would be so much fun plugging these gods into an ancient combat system. 🙂
Oh I’m glad they included Diomedes, he doesn’t get enough credit in the myth of the Trojan Wars.
they are as stunning as the other figures for the game.
Oh, my godess! 😉 Frist the pretty interesting Poseidon, followed by the re-do of Artemis, then the nice Hekate, now a decent Belerophon. I can’t tust this – it seems too good to be possibly true. I’m so happy the beloved Belerophon isn’t totally crappy. Neither is he all that trash pulpy looking as an alarmingly increasing amount of their attempts is (although there are some pieces showing like his body armour, over exagerated helmet and lance) nor does he seem very non-Greek as also a large number of their sculpts does nor does Pegasus have an enormously wrong phyique.… Read more »
Well i am completely lost some ofthe optional extras are now free, does that mean they are still optional extras?
Anything which was added as a stretch goal is free with the God pledge. Can you give a specific example of one which is causing confusion and I’ll hopefully be able to clarify 🙂
not to worry they had the troy expansion as free and as an optional extra when i posted, now its an optional extra
Guys, they are only changing the presentation mode of some things now. Earlier the automatic “free” additions were shown piece by piece. Now, as anounced somewhere before, they put the individual units into thematic sets. To fall in line with the optional buys. In the end it’s a cosmetic thing (which also provides insight about future plans and costs). They didn’t update the overall core pledge schematic to that system (yet?). Thus it might seem as if those were included several times.
Oh, well, resolved already. *sigh*
@darnast still good info there… This is a stunning looking game. I want to paint those minis… NOW
Tnx. Always like to be of help but some apreciation is, um, apreciated. 😀
Yeah, and I’d like to convert (many of) them NOW.
And, read through the RPG book to build my own ancient Achaian heroes. Oh, yesss!
Very nice I was waiting for Bellerophon and Pegasus. This guy was a total baddass and kind of a jerk.
Marrying the Kings Daughter then dropping her in the middle of the Ocean to get back at her dad is about as far as being a jerk goes.
If Ajax doesn’t slay his enemies his shame will get the better of him and he’ll throw himself onto his own… hammer? Anyway great stuff! The heroes of Troy box not containing any KS exclusives means this might be the first addon I can skip to make my bank account a little less sad XD
Yeah. One of my big griefs. Why do people keep up this Troy film hammer mess? Ajax the Telamonian (was only one of two by that name, ye know) was so different in the story.
It’s the old pop meatgrinder proplem: turning content around beyond recognition but keep the name for its attracting attention twisting peoples’ perception along the way. Grrr…
