It’s Sunday!
Time for the XLBS.
Time to relax and watch the crew chew the fat of gaming goodness.
(don’t mind me, I’ll be in the corner painting Test of Honour miniatures)
Happy Sunday!!
For various reasons this has been a crap year hobby wise, so my NY resolution is simple.,. not too ambitious… just to get back into the habit of doing hobby.
Not a massive amount – a little bit a few times a week until the habit is re-established and then I can set myself some tougher targets, one of which will be to start and maintain at least one project on the site.
First thing is to tidy up my den, hopefully over the next week before new year.
Happy Sunday!!!
I was taken to the cinema to watch that musical version of Scrooge when it was released. I had nightmares for weeks after it
The George C Scott version is the best
Maybe its the Vodka, maybe its just late, but that was a great weekender. Warren, you looked choked up and I get the same way when people present or gift things that reminder me of my mother.
Merry Christmas!
@recon63 caught me by surprise with that. I didnt even realise it was every album slim dusty ever made.
But the delight my Dad took in the mans music and remembering how happy he was when he finally got to meet him just reminded me how much I miss him 🙂
So a very special gift that one lol
Merry Christmas everyone!
It is amazing how it’s the simple things that get us. Last year my cousin sent me a CD with clips from a few of the last Christmas’s my mother enjoyed. Just hearing her voice and seeing those images after 25 years was an amazing gift.
Enjoy the time with your family. Glad @recon63 added just a bit more joy to your holiday.
Y’all had a great year and I look forward to the next one.
Oh Dear, I destroyed @Warzan, Well it looks my work here is done, until next year. But Seriously, Mrs Recon63 and myself are very glad you enjoyed it. You made a comment about liking Slim Dusty a while ago, and I remembered when I was walking past a local music shop. I expect at some point a vlog of one of the team being tortured “a clock-work orange” style with ol’ Slim playing in the background. (I suppose next @Warzan will be expecting an Akubra Hat in the next anzac migration……… Hmmmmmm). Merry Christmas and Happy New year to all… Read more »
It’s Sunday!
Good morning and happy christmas.
@warzan – surely it’s a Guy Fawkes mask not a V for Vendetta mask? Also, next time you want to pull something like that, enlist the help of Justin or Sam to wear the mask so there’s less chance of your kids seeing through the ruse. ? On Justin’s comment about Warren showing his son this vid when he’s older, maybe Warren should be making a compilation of all the embarrassing stories he tells about his kids on Weekender/XLBS. ? I can empathise with you @dracs about crowds – the curse of being short. Wasn’t Susan also a Time Lord?… Read more »

Happy Sunday!!
I am very willing to be proven wrong, but isn’t the definition of a Doctor’s companion somebody who travels in the TARDIS who is NOT Gallifreyan? Ergo the Master isn’t a canon companion because s/he (*somewhere*) has a TARDIS squirreled away? (IIRC with a functional chameleon circuit)
Nope, otherwise Romanna wouldn’t count as a Companion; a Companion is someone who travels with the Doctor, but also includes others who have helped him in a major way (unless I’m mistaken some of the one-shot characters from the Xmas specials are counted even though they don’t step inside the Tardis once), with special mention going to the Brigadeer and Sgt. Benton, so the Master/Missy counts due to her participation in Twelve’s final season (mainly the ending two parter).
I understand the argument, but Romana is Gallifreyan. If Missy/Master is excluded from the companion list on the grounds of “well he’s the same species as the Doctor”, why not Romana?
My point was you can’t exclude Master/Missy for being Galifreyian because Romanna and Susan aren’t excluded.
Belfast has been pretty empty this year. One thing that’s bugs me about Christmas shopping are the people that come into the town once a year and don’t know where they or where their going and think the best place to discuss where their next port of call is so standing in the doorways if shops
Happy Sunday…
@lancorz you game looks great, but just to clarify something… Honey Badgers are not native to Europe and the picture that you used is of a European Badger.
Yes but what is its load bearing capacity? 😉
The kids won’t know that ?
Until Chad and Vy versus The Honey Badger is released on to you tube
They will if we tie them to a chair and make them enjoy an awesome movie “Clockwork Orange” see style! ?
Merry Christmas to everyone!!!
@dignity That Blue probably isn’t a primer none of their coloured Sprays are. A quote from the webstore.
“Spray is designed for basecoating all Citadel miniatures. When sprayed over an undercoat, it’s a fast way to get a uniform base of colour onto your models.”
Not that it matters, I’ve used GW colour sprays on at least two of my forces with zero issues at all.
I’ll have to try out that Board game creator, I’ve got a half finished French Resistance Board game somewhere on my hard drive I should resurrect over Christmas.
Happy Sunday.
To push yourself do a hobby bingo board…..write a target on post it note and make a grid of them say four by four and see if you can complete a line. Eg build a scenery piece. Paint a hero figure for a game you have not played yet. Paint a squad to accompany the hero. Paint something for a game that you have not picked up for a year.make/paint objective markers.
Have joined a bolt action escalation league so pushed to build paint and play new squads on a monthly basis..
Happy Sunday and Merry Christmas everyone!
I hope the OTT team are getting a nice break – that’s been a hell of a year of content, travelling, platform development, and rebranding. It all bodes well for an exciting 2019!
My new years resolution is to paint two more 6mm armies. One ancient, the other will be ancient or maybe 3O years war depending if adlg Renaissance gets released this year. Finally getting around to building my 10mm Dux Bellorum pict army and my 10mm Greeks which has taken a bit of a backseat while I have a think about what I want to do with it. If we have anytime left then one other project which might come to pass depending on funds
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Merry Christmas guys and girls.
“While I can”? Who is leaving? Sam or John?
Merry Christmas to all the Lads and Ladies of Beasts of War. Merry Christmas to the community. Thank you for being you. Best wishes to all for the new year and may at least one hobby wish come true.
I’m planning before the New Year to have a clear out, and cut down.on some of the wargames I play and concentrate on just a few.
I’ve noticed over the last 12 months I’m playing more miniature based board games.
Plans for 2019, finish both 40k armies I’m building (Eldar and Ultra Marine), finish Chinese WW2 army for Bolt Action. Start medieval/fantasy human army. Start and finish Test of Honour warbands. Build more terrain.
Happy sunday all and Merry Christmas!
My New year resolution – play more!
I keep a gaming diary of what I played, against who, results and notes of the games. Looking at the past 3yrs, there has been a distinct decline in my gaming…. In 2016 I played 52 games, in 2017 played 39 games and just 29 in 2018…(Mainly due to me stopping playing 40k)
I’ve already signed myself up for a few events but intend to get to my local clubs and play something more often
Romana 2 is from Cities of Death. My absolute favourite Doctor Who story ever.
I’d missed that Warlord had released this set, it’s the one I’ve been waiting for.
I remember seeing City of Death as a 8 year old child. When Tancredi reveals he is really Scaroth by pulling his mask off I was genuinely terrified. Even now I still get unnerved by that Image.
I was a similar age and yes it really gave me the willies. I think I remember more scenes from that story than any other.
Merry Christmas everyone, another great year in the hobby and made all the better by being a Backstager.
Have a great holiday all, see you in the new year.
OK I’ll add a hobby resolution: I’ll do the next thing I do as a project on BOW/OTT 🙂
Happy Sunday. I have a New Year resolution for Justin, not saying “what many people forget” before stating the bloody obvious.
Have a Happy Christmas.
