FIRST!! 🙂 Happy Saturday Folks!
Huzzah!
District 9 looks cool.
It does look very neat – a good way of trying to mesh together a good board game and the licence.
It’s the Weekend! Albeit a weekend that’s an hour shorter than usual…
Life Syphon: A few weeks back I called out a PC game called “The Ship”, which is a first person backstabbing game, as something I’d like to see on the tabletop. This is sounding close!

So for my serious comments! I must admit the sculpts for the new Slaneesh range are incredibly beautiful in their design, however if there was ever a manifested embodiment to represent of all the things i detest in the world then it is Slaneesh!! Commie hyper-liberal scum the lot of them and they must be destroyed!! (You can tell what kind of inquisitor i am can’t you?!) Would love to be able to get down to Salute this year to see the Flames of War stands and take part although i think that 2020 is going the be the year… Read more »
Great show guys.
I think the Furies are small and in a unit not big single monsters.
@avernos I think Victrix do Plastic Carthaginians.
I’d really like to see some Plastic minis for the Boshin War, or any minis for the Boshin war really, there’s one guy who makes them.
you’re right they do, in the back of my mind I knew they had but I was plucking a nation out the air for that one. Companies in the main seem to operate like Hollywood studios. You’ll get pairs of box sets coming out that look suspiciously similar fighting against each other, while no one really wants to take a punt on that more unusual nation.
I’ll cough Boshin as I pass the Perry’s at Salute. It’ll be subliminal eventually they’ll think it’s their own idea
🙂
The Furies might be smaller creatures but my thinking was that they are still going to be wandering monsters in the game, coming in to spoil your fun.
Yeah!! Slaanesh in back and looking gorgeous!!
“Slaanesh in back”, is that a freudian slip? 😉 😉 😉
Happy Weekend all.
Great show peeps.I’ll just leave this here as it’s a ways off yet…Clone Wars.
Didn’t like the show so much this week guys. Too much time lost on the bits with Play Fusion and Battlefront for me.
Personally I’d put all these bits in their own video post so you can see them that way rather than in the Weekender, but just my opinion
Ah that’s a shame, I thought the interviews were good fun, especially the one with PlayFusion about Age Of Sigmar: Champions – I thought we managed to get in quite a lot of news there though!
Looking at holding our second Burrows and Badgers tournament in July if you’re interested Ben. Same venue down in Rushden Northamptonshire
but then people who like BF will say the same about the Warhammer news, and maybe the play fusion fans aren’t big into talk on saga.
Personally I wouldn’t talk about anything that wasn’t early medieval if I could get away with it, but I’m told that isn’t going to work, and then they beat me with a bag of satsumas
Just a little gripe from me, nothing major, I just think maybe the interviews could have their own video compilation each week etc., leaving the Weekender for you guys to chat about more stuff and interact with us out here in gaming land
I find myself fast forwarding through the Weekender a lot these days.
There are just so many companies that want our attention (and our money) currently. I used to be interested and keep up with most of the BoW content but now I find it just too much….
But I’m glad that there is the variety out there now, that people can choose from, and perhaps come into the hobby because they like what one of these new companies is doing.
It’s an understandable gripe guys 🙂 There is a ton going on, it was a big part of why we stripped a lot of the same format out of XLBS so we can let our hair down more in there 🙂
Didn’t mean it to come across as a gripe… Personally I find it more of a frustration. Being a naturized Kiwi, I ,and a number of my gaming friends, don’t really consider Battlefront a New Zealand company anymore. The only part of the business left here is the design studio. If the creative team ever felt the need to move overseas….. Kinda sad really. I have friends that have their name in the first edition of “Flames of War” as playtesters. Now I don’t think it is even sold in a shop in the South Island. (I’m in Dunedin.) I… Read more »
I agree. There is just a ton of promotional stuff because everyone is trying to sell their latest and greatest. So many website and YouTube channels focused on the selling of hobby versus the actually hobby. I also agree that we live in a time with so many choices. I have started to filter myself and ignore most of what is going on. There are far more board games than I can ever play. The RPG systems available could fit a container ship and I am not going to play them all. There are so many miniature ranges and systems… Read more »
To paraphrase my favourite stand up comedian ” don’t you think god ever gets stoned ? Take a look at the Platypus and tell me it ain’t so “.
Best news in a LONG while, the fact that a company has decided to do Persians in plastic and NOT do another range of Romans or Greeks. I posted about this a while ago on how “horde” armies are the ones that really need to be available cheaply in plastic, yet only the “elite” armies get done (so everyone ends up with Roman armies with no historical opposition to fight against). Again going with Dark Age Irish (instead of another range of Vikings) is eagerly awaited. Now lets see how well they do (hopefully VERY well), because this might make… Read more »
I know they’ve buddied up with Dark Peak Games, which is Warbanner GW are forcing them to change their name, to release the skellybobs for Mortal Gods so I have no doubt the Persians could happily supplement the metals for it as well. Exciting times.
I know someone has done tartan for the victrix highlanders, but it’s a pattern to fit the sculpts, I wonder if you could print your own and cut out what you needed… that’s an interesting thought. Mmmm must test that
Battleflag do the tartan decals. I’ve seen some car scale modelling accessories sites do tartan decals but only 1/24 etc. Probably easier to make your own
aye I know, it was more for the persian patterns, it’s certainly possible but how much of a pain it would be to make a sheet to apply is the real question
Probably could do a “trim” or striped pattern you could cut to fit around the edges?
Something like https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tin-Soldier-top-quality-Persian-warrior-in-the-Phrygian-cap-Guards-Achaemenid-/113491274253
But it’s the overall patterns that are a paint in the butt to do. But even although it’s all very hard work to paint up, and they WILL run away….it’s still the finest looking army a wargamer can own 🙂
Well warflag do curtains for horses so it might be possible. Though for Persian infantry a few vertical stripes and some dots would probably work in a massed look
It’s time for the Weekender! I’ll certainly be checking out ‘District 9’ and ‘Hellboy’ the board games! AdeptiCon Live Blog has all my attention this weekend. I’m looking forward to the Saturday live podcast with Modern War Gaming Industry leaders, (I think, in round table format? I could be wrong about that), Gianna has gathered severely for a talk about the latest in the hobby regarding Modern War Gaming. It could be an Epic Show. Someday, I’d love to attend Battlefront’s Open Day Event. I don’t play ‘Age of Sigmar’ but that Slaanesh model is really interesting. I wonder if… Read more »

That Slaanesh miniature is very nice.
the slannesh models look so good!
Happy Saturday, see you tomorrow.
Happy Weekend! OK, the Venom Crawler, indeed all Deamon Engines are (for lack of a better term) new builds, there are entire Forgeworlds that turned to Chaos during the Horus Heresy (many of them for the very reason that they wanted to innovate and not be tied to complying with the STCs) that are dedicated to supplying the armies of the Dark Gods with war materiel, even taking into account the temporal weirdness of the Warp 10,000+ yrs of war attrition means that they’ll need more ammo and new hardware periodically…and rant over, sorry :/ The new Slaanesh minis, especially… Read more »
These Warhammer models are unbelievable. I started drooling when I saw the Keeper of Secrets.
Great news too for the AoS: Champions as well as for the District 9 board game.
Happy Weekend everyone!
Really like the new cards for AOS: Champions. I’m taking part in the Savagery Pre-release event at my FLGS tomorrow, interested to see what the new cards offer, but already guessing that wizard decks are going to be popular.
Chaos releases means lots and lots of bits to play around with. I’ve heard people mentioning making a nautical themed warband with the heads of the Iron Golems. I can imagine an enemy warband of sea creatures / mutants made with Hedonite parts.
So many videos to watch, who needs to go outside anyway, fresh air is over rated
New Slannesh looking good. Apart from the Masque.
Gerry & Ben…hmm…sounds like a good name for an ice cream. ? Disagree with Gerry over the new Chaos daemon engine; I’m with Justin thinking it’s an original Chaos creation. Not everything in 40k runs off STCs, that’s just something the Imperium have fallen into because of the Mechanicus’ opposition to innovation, a restriction that the Dark Mechanicum has thrown off. And as Justin says, Chaos has its own Forge Worlds and factories from which to produce stuff. Justin is wrong on Slaanesh; Slaanesh and their daemons is supposed to be hermaphroditic, not purely female, so introducing some masculinity is,… Read more »
Ooooh the Ice Cream Twins…. That name has got to stick. 😛
Havent gotten too into champuons yet, this might be qhen i finally do it.
So you’re running the (premium) ice cream team today?
Mmmmmm Ice Cream
if the guys at flames of war want a scenario they should do the battle of the imjin river , 29st independent brigade Vs four chinese divisions https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Imjin_River, easily do a wave scenario a small group of players have to hold off waves of chinese for x amount of turns till they can escape, one man has to be the rear guard but they have to roll to see who it is
Can’t help but wonder what Warrens reaction to the Keeper was. I think it’s bloody glorious!
