Warhammer Underworlds Unboxing: Nightvault
September 22, 2018 by dignity
Hold on to your Stormcast miniatures because Ben joins Justin to unbox the new Warhammer Underworlds: Nightvault.
Nightvault kicks off season two of Warhammer Underworlds with eight new warbands and dozens of new cards. Inside we get to see the two factions of the Stormcast and Nighthaunts.
Having been let loose from the Nighvault, the Briar Queen leads the Nighthaunts on a quest for vengeance.
What is your favourite piece of lore about the Mirrored City of Shadespire?

Probably going to get this at some point as the magic makes it seem more interesting than Shadespire.
I think Daughters of Khaine would convince me to buy.
Still no Daughters of Khaine in the Nightvault season, but the much better Kharadron Overlords are here, so don’t worry 😉
I do like the look of Fyre Slayers starter box… (I want to type Khadoran… but that’s Warmachine) but the ‘oh so squishy’ Daughters of Khaine (those medusai in particular) want me to buy them… I’m waiting for a ‘getting started’ box though to keep the price low initially
I have the first one and all the warbands and I expect i’ll get this one too, I am tempted by the Kharadron Overlords when they arrive but I do like the look of the troll as well. I am still surprised that GW didn’t do the cards on there own on blind buy card packs.
Underworld: Nightvault might be the one gateway to pull me into the Age of Sigmar. If it’s not added to my collection right away, if a Daughters of Kaine faction is released, I in for sure.
There will be no Daughters of Khaine warband for Nightvault. It was said/rumored that Nightvault will have 8 warbands just as Shadespire and all of them are known, but who knows maybe with the 3rd Underworlds game, if there will be one.
Sounds a tactically moving game than a more hack n slash traditional one.
Already preordered mine + the Shadespire Fyreslayer warband.
You guys really need to do a Let’s Play of this, maybe even one with a Nightvault warband vs a old Shadespire warband.
So, I´ve got all the Shadespire Stuff and I love this game, with Nightvault now comming I can´t wait for my Sylvaneth. They where my first AoS faction and I love them.
Spooky spooky ?. Grab them by the ghoulies
I have shadespire, and a couple of the warbands I liked. Like most things I buy, I never got around to playing it.
Quick question: how possible is it to play Warhammer Underworlds if you don’t go in heavily for the competitive deck building element? For instance, if you just pick up a couple of warbands rather than aiming to own all the cards?
I’m slowing becoming more convinced, getting closer to buying in. But I think ultimately I’ll be waiting until a Daughters of Khaine warband is released.

It comes with pre-made decks so you could just use those and you’ll be fine. Just dont play against anyone super competitive as they’ll have looked up decks online that might be quite strong. The deck building is pretty easy though, once you’ve got a few games under your belt you’ll recognise cards that could help your strategy or could switch up your strategy a bit. Its not like magic the gathering or anything like that. I’m pretty crap at deck building myself and avoided it initially in shadespire, but once I gave it a go I found it to… Read more »
Its a great game and i don’t think its too bad not buying everything. Obviously there’s a couple of great cards in every faction box and usually something that will benefit another faction more than the box its in. But in each box you get about 60 cards to make your 20 card power deck and a 12 card objective deck, so there is a lot of customization already. Add in the ones from the starter and you shouldn’t struggle to make decks. Also, the deckbuilding is only one aspect of the game, tactics in movement and resource management, combined… Read more »
My favourite piece of lore is that nagash decided to curse the whole city only because of the katophranes.
I would really love to win one of these boxsets.
greatings
The minis are awesome. I’m not much into the game itself though from what i’ve seen…
I generally don’t care what GW does with its new edition of Fantasy. If there is no movement trays then I generally don’t care. Even if the models look amazing.
But is it fully compatable with Shadespire, or are they intedned as separate games? I fear eash “season” of underworlds is meant as a replacement for the previous, not an addition.
The sky dwarves are attractive to me. Could never afford a full army of them, but a getting a chance to paint some from an underworld expansion won’t break the bank.
Be interesting to see how a Shadespire factions do balance wise against the new nightvault factions.
Love the nighthaunts.
