Nope. Simply because I don’t like the rebooted movies. Plus it looks way to complicated for a boardgame and those grey trees really bug me. Somehow, if this would be shown at my FLGS I would simply walk past it.
You’re in luck. They have a whole playable game set that only includes stuff from the original film.
Shouldn’t the Disney logo be on there somewhere?
Disney has separated out their brands for a long time. They don’t claim most Touchstone Pictures films (although they’ve brought Nightmare Before Christmas into the Disney fold).
And Fox has plenty of franchises that they won’t want to put the Disney brand on (like Predator and Alien).
If you have a look at the back of the latest Star Wars products from FFG, the only business logo, other than FFG’s, is Disney’s.
There is no Lucasflim logo on the box. There is of course Star Wars trade dress.
This was the reason for the question.
I suppose the answer is that the licensing deal for The Planet of the Apes game was done before the merger was finalised, which was only in March of this year.
Even then, Disney chooses which icons to bring in under its own brand label. I think we’re very unlikely to see any Disney labels on Apes licensed products unless we first see an Apes film with Disney on it. The licenses are separated under the different companies, even though Disney feels that some of the brands fit very well under its umbrella. For example, Star Wars and Marvel characters were not included in the most recent Kingdom Hearts game because Square Enix was not able to get the licenses from Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm (but they did get the licenses… Read more »
So is that ‘What You See Is What You er… Games’? ‘Wizzy Wee Games’?
Yeah, I think it is pronounced Wizzywigames. Yep, What you see is what you games..
The grammar seems a bit suspect.
WYSIWYG stands for ‘What You See Is What You Get’, so either they didn’t bother to check what it meant before making it their brand, or they wanted to change the ‘G’ to ‘Game(s)’ and, as you wrote, they didn’t bother to check their grammar before making it their brand. Either way it doesn’t bode well.
I’d prefer to think they knew what it meant, and thought it was clever anyway.
Have we thoroughly considered whether you do games what you see? I likes to games lots of what I sees.
I love the figure’s.
The only reason I’m contemplating the game is for the tree terrain. I suck at making terrain and those would make for some decent trees for an Endor map for ‘Star Wars: Legion’. The miniatures look ok, but I think they are just lost on me after seeing the awesome apes Privateer Press unveiled for ‘Monsterpocalypse’.
