Hit Video Game, Apex Legends, Getting New Board Game

Glass Cannon Unplugged has been teasing their new board game that is going to be coming to Kickstarter in May 2023. They are going to be bringing the video game antics of Apex Legends to the tabletop.
Apex Legends: The Board Game - Kickstarter // Glass Cannon Unplugged.
The board game plays out like the video game where you're grouped into teams and dive into a tactical clash to see who can come out of the other end of the battle intact. The game has currently been marked as a two-to-four-player experience but I could see Glass Cannon Unplugged expanding that to six as part of the Kickstarter.
At the heart of Apex Legends is the Battle Royale experience played out over the Kings Canyon map. The action hones in on the final zone during a round where you take on the role of one of the unique Legends and see if you can get your hands on the right loot, weapons and more to overpower your enemies.

Each Legend may perform different actions like move, interact, use and attack plus bring their unique abilities into play. Making sure that your team works well together is key to victory as you'll want to make sure that you pick Legends that complement each other in playstyle and can unlock some serious combos.
The twist that Glass Cannon have thrown into the mix mechanics is that you also get to react on your opponent's turn. This could be ducking into cover when coming under fire, recovering your shield or providing aid to a nearby ally. A neat way to get out of some sticky situations and perhaps use your "fails" to ambush your opponents later down the line.
I am categorically terrible at Apex Legends as a video game. I don't have the reaction speed to deal with other players, to be honest. I could see a board game experience like this being a fun way to get that Apex Legends kick without having to be quick off the draw!
Could you see yourself backing this?

As someone who is both mere days away from turning 43, and has put far, far too much time into Apex Legends, I feel your pain at never seeming to be more than adequate at it. This though intrigues me. Given how much Apex has evolved since it’s first launch, most drastically in the current season by reorganising & redefining the classes that the burgeoning roster of Legends are grouped into, but also with new maps & variants of maps (Kings Canyon alone has had at least 5 major iterations), it’ll be interesting to see how GCU are packaging it.… Read more »
