USAopoly Shows Off Some Cards For Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle
August 1, 2016 by deltagamegirl22
USAopoly is releasing it's Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle deckbuilding card game this September, and to say I'm looking forward to this is a bit of an understatement.
I adore Harry Potter, and it's a house favorite (no pun intended-well, maybe a little bit) for our family.
I think what I'm looking forward to the most is the movie IP included in the card art. It absolutely captures the look and feel of the movies, which gives the Harry Potter fans that warm and fuzzy connection we love. I will be having a chat with our friends from USAopoly at Gen Con and hopefully getting to have a go at the game.
And, since it's Gen Con, they will have a limited number of copies available at the show ahead of their September release date, so get their early if you're wanting to make sure to snag a copy.
"The forces of evil are threatening to overrun HOGWARTS™ castle in this new cooperative game! It’s up to four students to ensure the safety of the school by defeating villains and consolidating their defenses. Players take on the role of a HOGWARTS student: Harry, Ron, Hermione or Neville, each with his or her own personal deck of cards.
To secure the castle from the forces of evil the students must work together to build more powerful decks using iconic Wizarding World characters, spells, and items. Defeat all the villains including He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and win the game!"
As a deckbuilding game, each player will start with on opening hand of ten cards as dictated by their character. Each turn you draw a new hand of five cards and when you run out of cards, you shuffle your discards including whatever new cards you've acquired along the way.
Each card describes the requirements for playing it and benefits for its use. You spend resources in terms of Influence or Attack, and your goal should be to try to spend all accumulated tokens each turn, because what you don't use, you lose at the end of each turn.
Will you be using your magical or Muggle abilities to save Hogwarts?
