After hitting their funding goal last December we check out Daniel Mersey's Battle Ravens: The Shieldwall Board Game shipping this April.
Battle Ravens is a modern take on ancient Viking games such as Hnefatafl and involves battling your Anglo-Saxon or Norse armies using strength, cunning, and lucky rolls of the dice.
Gerry is a big fan of Daniel Mersey's previous work and this game also combines the talents of one his favourite historical artists, Peter Dennis of Osprey fame.

Sort of miss the more casual approach on the unboxing as well as the old set with the guys siting. still not sold on the new set
I’m the same. When I first saw the new set I thought this was footage recorded from UK Games Expo that they had to hold back.
Not saying its not nice but just feels ruched and not as relaxed as in the past. think this takes something away from what made unboxing videos so great.
looks like a very simple game that can fill a free ten mints but still looks fun with simple strategy.

A great game for people with limited space for game’s the units look good as well.
Looks like a good concept for a game. I like the idea of winning by breaking a shield wall rather than killing the enemy.
Although I do have to point out that it’s sad to see that yet another game seems to be including the incorrect idea that Beserkers were slavering lunatics who fought naked and didn’t care about their own safety.
It can be preorders through the kickstarter page at the moment if people want to get it shipped on release
Nice looking game, like the idea of the simplicity of the objectives.
Like Gerry Have been a big fan of Dan Merseys since Glutter of ravens appeared many moons ago. Highly recommend Dux Bellorum as well
This looks like a nice little game, ideal for when time is a constraint or one for the pub.
