Time Is Running Out To Get In On Rise of the Kage
June 12, 2015 by stvitusdancern
GCT Studios is letting everyone know that time is running out to get in on their latest Kickstarter, Rise of the Kage.
If you did not get in on this, and have had second thoughts about doing so you better do it quick as the backerkit closes on June 21st. You can still get in on the Kickstarter pricing and enjoy all the stretch goal goodness.
As a quick refresher...
"...in a game of Rise of the Kage: 2-4 players can choose to play as the ninja of the shadow wind clan. Deadly warriors, tasked with a variety of missions all ultimately focussed upon taking down the Takashi clan, the Jwar Isles' ruling family. Or you can choose those that have sworn their lives to protect their Daimyo; the brave guards of the Prefecture of Ryu."
Do you have what it takes to be a ninja?

While not a deal-breaker I’m slightly narked by this post-KS Backer-kit offering ‘rewards’ at the same pricing as the KS itself. Maybe I could clarify why by asking a couple of questions: – Does someone pre-ordering through the backer-kit have more consumer protection than a KS backer? If so should they pay a higher price? – if GCT run another KS on the same basis, why should I bother committing my funds during the KS rather than wait until the last minute and use Backer-Kit instead? If I got a better price or rewards during KS then fine (as long… Read more »
As a Kickstarter backer of this game, I’m ok with the pledge manager being open to anyone. The more, the merrier.
I wasn’t able to participate in the Forgotten King or AvP kickstarters, and I was glad when I was able to join at a later date.
Allowing post-kickstarter backers to get in on a project with all of the original project’s benefits has become standard. Kickstarter is even set up to link to ‘late pledges’ now. – I’ve never heard of any of them granting better consumer protection than Kickstarter does. In fact, if their store uses Paypal, they’re required to write up a warning about how it isn’t guaranteed. – Since most Kickstarters do this, a lot of people get in for $1 so that they can unlock the backer kit. The only trouble with a person choosing this is that they aren’t contributing to… Read more »
Yeah, it does seem slightly odd that you can get on a Kickstarter after it’s finished. What if the extra pledges took them over a stretch goal?
I’m not really complaining. I was very happy with the way the KS went and look forward to getting the game. Therefore the possibility of some more players being about isn’t really a bad thing (IMO).
You know, I’ve seen a few Kickstarters actually unlock stretch goals during the pledge manager. It’s kind of funny, and it moves differently than the first time around, and new backer numbers move up pretty slowly.
Of course, they can make cash goals fairly easily- since a lot of people add extras during the pledge manager (in fact, I know a guy who got in on Kingdom Death at the minimal pledge level, then added up to an “everything and the kitchen sink” level by the time the waves of pledge managers were through).
I still kind of wish the models (or at least the characters) had different poses for hidden and alert. I guess I’m going to have to practise my OSL so that my “discovered” characters are lit up by lantern light!
I actually backed this game and completed my pledge very early, keen to get it. One of the last few Kickstarters I backed for now
The very last being Home Raiders (for now)
