Thunderbirds Board Game Gets Promotional Cover & Survey!
January 13, 2015 by brennon
The Thunderbirds Co-Operative Board Game from Modiphius, designed by the genius gaming mind of Matt Leacock has got itself a promotional cover and there's a survey to help Modiphius plan their Kickstarter too!
Some more on the game from Matt Leacock...
"“I’ve had a great time immersing myself in the world of Thunderbirds, learning all about the Tracy family, Lady Penelope, and all their wonderful gear. This game will give players the chance to see how they would perform in the role of the Tracys. Will they be able to anticipate global disasters and complete impossible rescue missions? This game will test each player’s nerve, logistical sense, and mettle,” said Matt Leacock. “It’ll tell you if you could be a Tracy!”"
...and from Modiphius.
"“Thunderbirds has always been the geek dad brand of choice as people introduce models of Thunderbird 2 or the original TV show to their kids,” said Chris Birch, Publishing Director of Modiphius.“From collecting the models and avidly watching the shows as a kid, it has been a dream of mine to create an awesome game with Thunderbirds. With Matt Leacock on board, I know we’ll be able to create the ideal co-operative gaming experience for whole families to enjoy the Tracys’ world. F-A-B!”"
Leacock has designed such games as Pandemic, Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert so there's quite the pedigree behind this game. It's also going to probably be a REAl challenge is the designers past is anything to go by!
There is also a survey as mentioned above which allows you to vote on things like stretch goals, add-ons and more. Of course the game is also touted to carry some awesome miniatures of the Thunderbirds themselves AND the characters.
Esdevium Games will be presenting the Thunderbirds Co-operative game on Stand E109 at Toy Fair on 20th-22nd January in London.
Will you be waiting for this one?

Thunderbirds are go! With Leacock designing, I’m on board for a Kickstarter.
Loved the show, may come to love the game.
I’m sure it will be great but I am personally put off by kickstarter for this. I think it’s because certain other companies have overused kickstarter as effectively a pre order system for something that they were obviously going to release anyway. Perhaps I’m just jaded in my old age.
Me too
Have been following the game since it was first announced and felt a bit of trepidation that it would be a KS campaign
with added cash required for shipping of course lol
*cough*mantic*cough*
WANT!!!
Very cool! Damn, never thought about Gerry Anderson stuff on tabletop….Someone get Mantic to do Captain Scarlet – you know it would rock!
Crooked Dice already do a very good range of Not-Spectrum agents if you’re interested 🙂
BoW Ben
A Thunderbird themed pandemic would be absolutely awesome!!! I love Pandemic but I find some people have ‘issues’ with the theme. Thunderbirds would be fantastic and open to all ages – each person taking on a different character with different skills.
I hope it isn’t like Pandemic, because I have Pandemic.
Simply putting new clothing on the same game would have no real value for me as much as I love Thunderbirds.
Not sure why the theme is problematic, since it is altruistic.
Excluding the new game of course, which tbh I am not fussed about.
No real desire to play a virus trying to wipe out humanity lol
Whilst it’s by Matt Leacock it is different to Pandemic don’t worry – playtesting has been amazing so far and it really feels like your rocking around the world in Thunderbird 2 on missions. We’ve actually funded all the development so far, sculpts, designs etc but the tooling cost of the game is considerable so we need Kickstarter to help us cover the big risk, though we’re keeping the goal low as we’ll be funding a lot of the actual production ourselves. You’ll be getting a shed load of plastic – characters, Thunderbirds and more…
