Throw A Hail Mary Pass With The Blood Bowl Troll
March 27, 2017 by brennon
Games Workshop has been winding up their throwing arm to throw one hell of a hail mary pass with their new Blood Bowl Troll!
Trolls are a hilarious addition to your team, especially if you're running an All-Goblin team. One of my most successful teams in a Blood Bowl league had some star Trolls running the show.
This particular version of the Troll has been based on the look of the River Trolls from the Old World and shows him winding up, ready for a throw that will most likely end in a dead Goblin.
I really like this sculpt, showing off a player in the middle of the action. I was a little bit confused by the model when I first saw it, but after taking a look at the model from a few different angles I understood just how he was posed. Made in plastic, this will be a fun kit to play around with.
Will you be picking one up for your Orc team?

I love this Troll .. I love the bear trap on his foot he is wearing as a shoe … I love the comic overtones….. I love the pose …..mostly …. Why is his hand obscuring his face ???. He’ll still be joining the Bloodhorn Boyz (My Orc team ) but …it is a negative to me in an otherwise lovely mini
Not a fan of the pose on this at all. Don’t like the hand in front of face. Would have preferred a more generic “intimidating” pose like the ogre rather than a throwing-a-Goblin pose. A dual pose kit would have made sense to use with Goblin teams.
It looked weird to me too but I think from other angles it wouldn’t be too much of a problem on the tabletop.
I do see what the designers have gone for with the pose, but it doesn’t quite work for me… A quick conversion to the left arm, maybe dropping it down a bit to cover the belly and he will look awesome!
Too busy… again.
Busy is exactly the word. GW are producing some amazing minis right now, and (IMO) some that are … a bit guff.
Not sure the angle in the picture linked (it does look better in 3d) is doing this model any favours, although I do think it is a shame that the hand effectively covers up a portion of this model’s face (as if a Troll would aim).
Still, it’s much better than the Rat Ogre we got; honestly, this range seems to have a pretty broad spectrum with regards to its quality.
Lots of nice touchs but pose is not working for me. Plus sticking with my old orcs so the old ones a better fit.
Check out the 360 shot and other angles on the GW site, doesent look half as bad
