Thor & His Allies Come To CMON’s Marvel United Kickstarter
February 18, 2020 by brennon
CMON and Spinmaster Games continue to build on the options available to backers through the Marvel United Kickstarter. The focus recently was on the new Tales Of Asgard Expansion.
This new expansion brings you Thor, Valkyrie, Korg as heroes as well as Loki as a new villain who you'll have to face off against on the tabletop. If you back as part of the Kickstarter then you'll also get the worthy alien warrior Beta Ray Bill. I would really love to get my hands on that Thor to paint up!
One of the fun elements present within this expansion is that it draws on the trickery of Loki. As well as suckering you into his own schemes he might also end up turning your allies against you too! Those who aren't interested in getting involved as part of the Kickstarter will be happy to know though that Tales Of Asgard is not Kickstarter Exclusive as a whole meaning it will be available later on down the line at retail.
Stretch Goals
Things have also been progressing when it comes to unlocked stretch goals too. A whole bunch of new heroes have made it into the mix including Ant-Man, Wasp, Venom and Blade.
On the villainous side of things you've also got the inclusion of Carnage, the (even more) psychopathic alternative to Venom, M.O.D.O.K and of course the previously unlocked options too. They have also included a S.H.I.E.L.D Solo Mode with the game too so you can play it by yourself when the Kickstarter lands on your doorstep.
As I said before, this game seems pretty fun. I like the mechanics and the chibi-style sculpts are looking good. But, the fact that so many heroes are Kickstarter Exclusive just seems like a massive awkward step in the wrong direction.
There are still a lot of core characters available beyond the Kickstarter which is nice, Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor etc, but it would have been nice to know that more of these heroes and villains would have been coming out in the future as part of larger Tales Of Asgard-style expansions.
But, such is the nature of Kickstarter. I can see what Spinmaster and CMON have aimed for here, working to create a product which is enticing to fund right now. If you do back the project you are going to be getting a LOT of good content when it delivers next year in 2021.
What do you make of the new expansion?
