The Op Bring Card Game Smash Up To The World Of Marvel
February 1, 2021 by brennon
The Op and Alderac Entertainment Group have worked together on a new version of Smash Up. This new set introduces the heroes and villains of the Marvel universe into the mix for this shuffling, card-based, builder game.
Smash Up: Marvel // The Op
Smash Up is a quick and simple card game which has been around for donkey's years now. The key premise is that you use groups of characters, items and events to take over bases which are laid in the centre of the table.

As an example, above you can see that there are players fighting over The Daily Bugle and Symkaria. Players have played characters and items which build up their power level in the hopes of claiming each base during that phase of a turn. You'll have to work out how much you want to deploy to a base because you could be missing out on scoring in other places too!

If you're interested in getting a rundown of how the game is played then there is a How To Play video down below from the folks at The Op for you to watch...

If you prefer, you can also download the rulebook HERE and see whether or not the game is for you. Smash Up is a pretty fun entry-level tabletop game which might be just what you need to get some Marvel fans into their board and card games. It's not going to set the world on fire but not every game has to!

nope, not my cup of coffee… plus I feel like the cards are way to busy (from a design point of view)
Could be a great family game.
I quite enjoy Smash Up, I’ll pick this expansion up at some point.
