Pledge allegiance to the Mockingjay or crush the rebellion under President Snow's boot in this new Hunger Games area control board game from River Horse.

In The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, players can choose to work as the Capitol or the Resistance, with each faction aiming to control more districts. The Capitol wins if they can hold off the Resistance for six turns, and the Resistance win if they have eight districts in an uprising.

Each turn operates in three phases; maneuvers, strategy, and influence.

In the maneuvers phase, the Capitol can access and activate a range of special 'district abilities' from the areas which they currently have in control.  The Resistance and the Capitol also use this phase to move their units to and from districts and bolster control areas.

In the strategy phase, players place missions or operation cards and characters onto districts.  If any districts are contested, players roll for combat, with the Resistance always rolling first (once for each unit).  Capitol units are destroyed by a 5 or higher roll and can only retaliate once the Resistance has finished their attack.

Finally, in the influence phase, rebellion tokens are added or removed depending on the location of Capitol Peacekeepers on the board.  All districts are then checked for a possible uprising.  If less than eight districts are in an uprising, the players move onto the next turn.

There's a lot of appeal to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. It has some quality detailed miniatures and strategically it's very well balanced in its mechanics - if you want to see it in action, you can always check out this awesome Let's Play Justin took part in last month.

It's already exceeded its goal on Kickstarter, and there are tons of cool stretch goals to unlock. So break out your Mockingjay pin and pledge your allegiance to the Resistance today!
