Play Out The Animation Collection From CMON On Kickstarter
January 14, 2021 by brennon
CMON has arrived on Kickstarter this week with The Animation Collection, a set of three board games based on beloved animated shows like Teen Titans, Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo!
The Animation Collection // CMON
Each of the games has been designed for ages ten and up which means they should be a great option for those who want to play more games with their kids. We start with Scooby-Doo: The Board Game...
Scooby-Doo: The Board Game // CMON
Scooby-Doo: The Board Game works with between one-to-five players and brings the entire of the Scooby Gang together in a cooperative adventure. The production value on the components and such looks great and if those pre-painted figures come out like that then they are going to be bloomin' awesome for kids to pop out and play with.
A team game is also in the mix for those who want to move away from the cooperative side of things. Teen Titans Go introduces a clash between some familiar heroes as they look to prove their superiority.

Again, it certainly looks good and I like the concept. Anything which looks immediately engaging and draws people to the tabletop is great and as long as the gameplay supports that, you're onto a winner.
The final of the three games includes a selection of characters that I love. It's neat to see Taz, Daffy, Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny popping up!
Looney Tunes // CMON
Again, we have them focusing in on the team-based side of gameplay here which I think is a good way to go. It's fun that they're working with plenty of fun ACME toys to create mayhem on the tabletop. This, alongside the Scooby-Doo game, might be the option that draws a lot of older gamers in as well.
Loads of extras are getting unlocked for this game as the campaign rolls forward. New characters are popping up for each of the games, some of which are Kickstarter Exclusive. If you're interested in the games above then make sure to dive in and check out the campaign above.
When it comes to rules, there is a download of the Scooby-Doo book HERE so you can give that a peek too!
Are you going to be checking out this campaign?

If it wasn’t a Kickstarter I’d buy the Scooby game for the minis, but it is, so I won’t.
Games will come out retail. SD will be unpainted. If you don’t care about the KSE’s and can wait for a sale, you might get the game at 1/2 of KS plus shipping. Picked up three CMON boardgames at a good discount over BF that way. KS has been a *great* opportunity for me to buy miniatures and RPG accessories from small companies I never heard of. It’s a way for “the little guy” to offer stuff that doesn’t get the shelf space at retail. That said, holiday sales have been far better for boardgames, and the last boardgame KS… Read more »
ks exclusives, especially those usually offered by cmon, tend to be more plastic than doesn’t really add much to the game and that’s especially true of the zombicide variants…
So ks exclusives don’t tempt me.
You’re right about the discounts compared to the ks as most of the time you get free postage, or cheap postage compared to the ludicrous amount asked for by ks projects and that’s not taking into account the 20% discount you often get.
> ks exclusives, especially those usually offered by cmon, tend to be more plastic than doesn’t really add much to the game and that’s especially true of the zombicide variants… Gotcha. Yep, additional gameplay content is YMMV with boardgame KS. And, compared to retail, the break-even point of a KS is usually a base game plus an expansion. It’s not until the KS has two expansions that it’s worth picking up. And that assumes you even like the game. If you’re only buying boardgames and are in the US, I’ve found that waiting until the holidays is your best bet,… Read more »
The Scooby Doo an Looney Tunes game’s could be worth checking out.
Scooby Doo boardgame: hasn’t been done before, and has some really nice minis. I’d say it’s worth a look!
Looney Toons boardgame: DEFINITELY hasn’t been done before, and the idea of a skirmish game with the Looney Toons just sounds fun. An absolute must!
Teen Titans boardgame: Makes me sad as I think about how the Teen Titans used to have an awesome show before all they made was this crap. PASS.
Hasbro released Mystery Mansion, a SD game, albeit without miniatures. SD pledges look to be the most popular — wouldn’t be surprised if MM is behind it. Looks like even the villain miniatures will be useful in MM. Speaking of miniatures, if you’re only looking for miniatures the most popular characters, you could buy them on Amazon, eBay, etc., although I didn’t expect prices to be that high ($5+ for a factory-colored figure) or the selection to be so lukewarm for the LT figures. Funko’s slightly oddly proportioned SD gang goes for under $20 on Amazon, but that’s about the… Read more »
The Scooby Doo and th Looney Tunes one lok interesting, but I’m not sure if I pledge. And I don’t like that it’s a 7 day campaign.
It’s the 10 month wait that will turn into 18 months probably… that puts me off.
And the fact that brexit has buggered everything up. The dutch are confiscating peoples sandwiches when they travel from UK which is truly bizarre.
Well 10 months isn’t so much considering other Kickstarters but I can see not liking that. I personlay just like longer campaigns, you have mote time to think about it, read the rules and so on. This seems to bank a bit om FOMO, with beeing so short and stuff like Yosemite Sam and all other unlocks at the moment except Beast Boy beeing KS exclusives. And the sandwich thing, well i have read that it is WHO or WTO law and the same is used in a lot of other countries. Sure they could have made a transition period… Read more »

$1 will get you access to the pledge manager. That’s lots of time to think about it. You *are* right in that they’re not even going to show a rulebook, although they have some sleep-inducing TTS gameplay videos.
That is true, I often forget that, but I’d like to make my mind up about pledging while the campaign is still running.
But maybe I will plede a dollar, we will see.
The Scooby-Doo set could be right up @warzan ‘s Street.
I dropped $2 dollors to keep a eye on it… only 5 days to go. The SD game looks nice, I guess i was hoping for a deeper experience then a few locations etc… there is a “house on the hill version” out right now….
Interesting, I dind’t know there was a “Betrayal at the house on the hill” version of Scooby Doo, but that game is not purely coop, right?

Link to playing of SD Betrayal…..enjoy

So do I, which is why I was excited when CMON announced the Animation Collection. To me, this release from CMON is a new startup in the ever-changing world of Kickstarter. You can check this Website and get more new things about 3D animation. We’ve seen a lot of board games get funded on Kickstarter. Some turn out great and some. Let’s see how The Animation Collection does.
