The Terrifying Yurei Rises To Haunt The Rising Sun
October 10, 2016 by dracs
The art for a frightening Yurei, the vengeful spirits of Japanese folklore, has appeared for Cool Mini or Not's Rising Sun.
This design keeps to the iconic points of Yyurei, such as the flowing funeral clothes and long, dark hair covering the face. The addition of the other bodies makes this all the more horrific, almost like something out of Bloodborne.
Reportedly, this Yurei is the spirit of a fallen Daimyo and gives the player the benefits of having a second leader on the field. Definitely a powerful addition to the tabletop.
More Art!
A spate of additional new artwork also joined the Rising Sun collection over the past week or so too...
The artwork is once again amazing to look at thanks to the hand of Adrian Smith. It's great to see more of the Fantasy elements coming together including the Phoenix!
What do you think of their work on this game so far? Has the artwork drawn you in like it did with Blood Rage?
Do you find this Yyurei haunting?

I’m looking forward to see what Remy Tremblay is going to do with these concepts !
The artwork has been out of this world, I’ll be backing this game on the art alone, gameplay wise it’s in safe hands with Eric.
Having missed blood rage this is firmly on my radar
Beautiful artwork
looking forward to seeing the minis. are they going to be in pvc?
I don’t know if it’s been confirmed but I would have thought so.
thanks. I’m ok with pvc but with such a beautiful looking product it would be nice to have a resin option.
Resins were sold of some of The Others minis at shows. I’m not sure if they were ever made available at retail.
No need to wait or look much further. They were shown right from the start with the very first announcement of this project (to my understanding anyways):

I saw the sculpts first and immediately thought of Grand Master Smith. Which is a great quality of them.
Those won’t be what we get in the box. The tooling for the plastics won’t have happened yet.
Would you care to elaborate what exactely you mean?
I can only assume you’re aiming at possible deviations in the final miniatures’ exact sculpting details and crispness quality due to new moulds and material used. And not that the will be totally different (in style, poses and so on). Yes?
I mean as master models (or whatever stage in the process) those still ought to provide a fairly reliable general look of the models for each design, right? Even though not in every minute detail, naturally.
I see now where my wires had become crossed. You’re specifically responding to @emptynessisform saying he was looking forward to seeing the minis by showing the sculpts, but not getting into what the material will be. In which case, yes, that is exactly what the sculpts will be. The final PVC minis won’t hold that detail.
Yes, @redben, that was my angle exactely. Sorry, I didn’t make that clear. Or, more precisely, didn’t take into account the issue of the casting material.
Still, I’m happy we could sort that out.
Dammit. I am such a sucker for Adrian Smith artwork. It’s terrifyingly glorious though, and I could happily getroffen lost in his work for all eternity.
I wondered why CMON suddenly ditched all their Bushido stock . The artwork is still wonderful though. Will be interested to see how this fits into the gaming landscape.
