Begin Terraforming Mars Once More With The Dice Game

Stronghold and FryxGames are back on Kickstarter with another take on the now prolific need to terraform Mars. Terraforming Mars: The Dice Game has you heading off to the Red Planet once again but with a handful of new mechanics to aid with making the planet habitable for humankind.

Much like with the traditional Terraforming Mars, you will be taking on the role of corporations that have been tasked with making Mars livable. The twist here is that you'll be rolling for your resources and what else is available to you from turn to turn. So, you'll need to plan and give yourself options if the dice don't come up in your favour. There are plenty of ways to mitigate bad luck in-game so don't worry!
Dice are then also rolled when it comes to gaining extra resources and activating certain cards in your hand tied to projects and other events.

Cards and abilities activated in this way can then be used to change the different tracks on the central game board. You can add tiles, raise the temperature, increase the oxygen supply and more which will help bring you towards that end game. The corporation that has then managed to rack up the most victory points will be declared the winner!
There is an in-depth look at the rules over on the Kickstarter Page and you can also get a peek at the Rulebook as well if you like. Essentially, it's Terraforming Mars but with a new set of mechanics driving the familiar gameplay loop.
The main reason they have given when it comes to giving this a go is its simplicity. The mechanics are a lot easier to get stuck into and it doesn't take as long to play. So, you might be able to fit more games of it into an evening.
Terraforming Mars: The Dice Game certainly sounds like an interesting prospect. I'm not sure it's enough to convince me to move on from the board game but it might be a neat way to start your Terraforming Mars journey if you're new!
Could you be tempted?
