Terraforming Mars Big Box Coming Soon With Fancy 3D Tiles
June 8, 2020 by brennon
Terraforming Mars is getting another expansion on Kickstarter this week but it's not quite the same as usual. Stronghold Games and FryxGames have been working on the Big Box which will give you a storage solution for every Terraforming Mars expansion to date plus a few new extras including 3D Tiles.

As mentioned above, the set will introduce a bunch of new markers and tiles like the ones seen above. This will allow you to embellish where you grow your woods, seed lakes and then build massive metropolises that dominate the martian landscape. It's a bit much but then again if Terraforming Mars if YOUR game of choice then this would probably be a great option.
On top of the tiles and storage solutions, the set will also add in a selection of new cards and exclusives which will be fun for Terraforming Mars players to tinker with and add into the mix. This is certainly one of those extra luxurious picks for board gamers but we do like to bling things out every so often.
Will you be snapping this up?

Just got my all in kickstarter. This is a dilemma…bling or no bling. I know this game has followers but have to seriously consider it.
From what I hear the game is reasonably well regarded, but the components are low quality. Paying premium to bling out the game when the company skimped on quality the first time round seems a bit of a cheek.
The components for Terraforming Mars are pretty good. I don’t see anything wrong with them. Sure, the art is a little quirky here and there but it looks just as I’d imagine a big chunky Euro Game to be. I’m sure some folks have complained but my friends and I have played Terraforming Mars and its expansions to death and the components have lasted the test of time.
Good to hear. Stronghold have a reputation for being a bit on the lower end for quality, and there are a few threads over on BGG about TM issues.
I think the biggest problem with the quality of the components is card stock quality.
They did seem to be par with older games’ card stocks compared to newer games’ card stocks.
If you are planning to sleeve them, it might not be an issue.
I alway wanted to get Terraformin Mars and this looks nice but it probably will be very pricy so I might just get the normal version.
Looks and sounds a good game to play the terrain looks really good too.
It’s a good game, and those 3d tiles look pretty sweet!
As with most things, I suppose it will depend on how many pennies it costs.
