The Old King's Crown by Eerie Idol Games is coming to Kickstarter soon and I was absolutely won over by it at the UK Games Expo this year. So, I thought I'd dive in and tell folks a bit more about the game!
The Old King's Crown // Eerie Idol Games
In games of The Old King's Crown, you will use control of one of four factions and their own deck of cards. You will use the power of these factions to control different areas of the kingdom thanks to the value present on the cards. Additionally, unique abilities will help you twist things in your favour. Again, each faction will have different abilities that make them interesting to play.
Cards are initially played facedown to regions of the board before being revealed and resolved. You'll want to choose wisely when it comes to the regions that you control choosing those that will bolster your chances of winning based on your faction. If you are able to reach a set number of influence points and retain it until the end of the round then you'll win the game.

I think it also helps that the game looks amazing. I think the artwork is beautiful and when the game finally releases, there will be unique card art for all of the factions and locations. I like the backstabbing and intrigue that immediately comes to the fore; quite fitting when it comes to wrestling for control of a crown!

There are tons of card games out there, but few of them offer the same visual appeal or complexity as The Old King’s Crown. This game has been around for a while now and has had quite a bit of success in the board gaming scene. After playing it for the first time, I can see why it is so popular.
