Studio Tomahawk Talk Gladiatorial Jugula!
February 4, 2014 by brennon
Studio Tomahawk have been talking more about their new gladiatorial arena game coming soon called Jugula. This looks bloody, and it's from the same folk who made SAGA so the rules should be fluid too!
You can of course make your own arena but as you can see above Jugula provides you with one right out of the book with this insert. As well as that you'll need a pack of card to show the characteristics of your Gladiator, and of course some miniatures.
I reckon this is going to be a rather fun game and maybe it will have a bit of progression to it as your Gladiators get deadlier every game. Even if it doesn't I think it's a perfect idea for a skirmish game where you see who is Lord of the Arena.
I'm fairly sure you will see this going down a storm at Salute.
Are you looking forward to this?

If anyone wants a bit more info on this I posted a few details on the here in the historical forum a couple months ago.
Certainly looks a little bit more flashy than Saga…looks interesting. Not sure if I’m sold on board game-like movement though.
The campaign element sounds good and the games are quite quick at about 40 mins.
What I liked about it was that it is a very compact game easily played on a kitchen/pub table.
That sounds pretty cool. Any word on what the models will be made of? If I remember correctly they are to be sold in 3 packs with multiple options?
Plastic perhaps? Even better…Rendera plastic? 🙂
I’m not sure on the models. I know they are 35mm. I’m doing a Saga comp back end of this month. I’ll ask the question.
I know I am interested! hope to see more on this when it is released.
Did I understand correctly that every player is supposed to buy their own deck of cards for this?
If any of the previous Studio Tomahawk games are anything to go by, the cards will be supplied with the rulebook. Thats how it is with Muskets and Tomahawks.
I believe there will be cards with the models as well.
There is a bit more info on here in both French & English. All I know about the figures is that they are made by Gripping Beast.
