The Strider Powers Into Deadzone In Mantic Games Preview!
July 3, 2014 by brennon
Mantic Games have been talking Striders for Deadzone and in the future, Warpath, over on their Kickstarter page as a week dedicated to Deadzone rolls on. See what you think of the variants for this battlefield walker below...
Above you can see the Enforcer and Corporation variant of the Strider alongside the more down and dirty looking Plague one covered in rust and probably the blood of many enemies. As you might imagine this means the Strider is a very cool plastic kit that allows you to make one for the Rebs as well!
Above are some of the unit cards for these walkers and you can either kit them out with long range cannons or the heavy flamer and chainsaw of the Rebs and Plague. Very cool indeed.
So how many of these are on your wishlist?

Looking good! Can’t wait for mine in Wave 2! Not long now!
I wonder it these’ll go on sale before being sent to Kickstarter backers as well.
Probably. It seems like the ‘in’ thing to do with kickstarters these days. 🙁
I know what you mean, it is little annoying seeing my mate play with his bought stuff and mine hasn’t yet arrived. however I’m then comforted by the fact I will receive my weight in plastic and restic in a few weeks time, enough to bury him and the table we play on..heheh
True. There is that side to it. It’s not ‘to’ bad if it’s only a short wait but some of them – Naming no names *cough*MYTH*cough*RELIC KNIGHTS*cough* are taking the piddle with their 2-3 months crap.
They won’t, most of the wave two stuff is releases for the next year, so it’ll be ages till stuff like the Asterians are available. Mantic have pulled their socks up on this after the fuss when it’s happened before. I think one of the scenery sprues may have dropped to shops before the second wave, but they put in some extra sprues to those “affected” to make up for it.
That Plague Strider is great!
I am just getting started with this game and it is figures like this that will keep me interested. Useful for other sci fi games also.
Striders are like walking tanks so maybe they should have names…
I shall call mine Aragorn
🙂
“The building’s shook at the terrible footfalls of…. Colin.”
Colin? Why not Sebastion 🙂
I wonder if that Titanfall game had any influence on the design of the Enforcer strider?
Either way, that is one heck of a deadly looking oversized rifle it is carrying.
I doubt it. They were being worked on way before the general release of Titanfall and are a larger equivalent to the Dreadball Big Mech model released last year.
If anything their inspiration is more based on the Atlas walker from Mass Effect.
Or Robotjox. Walking robots have a long, and (mostly) honourable history in SF.
Screw titanfall as inspiration. That enforcer strider looks like it was sculpted straight off the screens from Avatar!!!
This is now on my wish lidt as my enforcers strider AND my titanfall for 15MM game, superb
My Deadzone collections is going to get much bigger!
If these models aren’t gonna be available to buy in the next few months I can’t help but think it’s somewhat cruel and pointless to post them… They’re pretty much instant buys and I would hate to find out they’re not available to the public until 2015…
Whilst they’ll be with backers in the next couple of months, I believe retail release is later this year.
