Tell The Story of Winter Tales With Fantasy Flight
July 4, 2013 by brennon
The darker side of fairy tales has always been a source of inspiration for tabletop gamers and Fantasy Flight's newest game, Winter Tales is no different. Check out this narrative driven board game below...
Winter Tales is a storytelling game where three to seven (yes seven!) players take control of the forces of Winter and Spring and try and win the battle over Wintertown. The first thing that needs to be said about this game is that the artwork looks breathtakingly stunning.
Some players will be taking on the role of literary figures like the Wolf or the Mad Hatter while others fight the good fight with personalities like Alice. You'll then be wandering around the town trying to either fight the forces of oppression or plan a dastardly trap that could bring the enemy forces to their knees.
The fantastic addition to this game is that its narrative driven. Each turn you draw cards with purposefully ambiguous sketches on them and you must work out a way to make them push forwards the story, helping you move around the board or put an end to an enemy.
You can also play with a 'Writer' who takes on a middle ground role. He is looking to keep the story going and so instead of helping either side he will be trying to force them into a draw.
I am totally won over by this game right now and I can't wait for more information.
Bring it on Fantasy Flight!

I’ve been ignoring a lot of FFG’s boardgames of late, as they seem to pump out so many, but this one really intrigues me.
This one really has gripped me for sure.
