Steamforged Reveal New Core Sets For Dark Souls: The Board Game
August 25, 2022 by brennon
Steamforged Games has announced that this November, they are releasing two new revised Core Sets for Dark Souls: The Board Game. Each of them will be standalone but will be compatible with existing Dark Souls: The Board Game material.
Tomb Of Giants // Dark Souls: The Board Game
The two Core Sets will be Tomb Of Giants and Painted World of Ariamis and have been updated after collaboration with the community that has been playing the original board game. The idea is that these sets introduce new ways to experience Dark Souls: The Board Game for those arriving for the first time plus a way to expand things as a returning player.
Painted World Of Ariamis // Dark Souls: The Board Game
Included within these new sets will be a new Event System, Objective Card Deck, streamlined Campaign Rules, Puzzle-Based Gameplay and of course some impressive miniatures. You'll be able to fight against the deadly Gravelord Nito for example.
It seems a neat idea that Steamforged has worked with the community in order to produce these Core Sets. This should have ironed out a lot of the kinks found in the original release and made it a game more in line with the digital Dark Souls experience.
More news is coming soon but November is not far away!

The tomb giant looks great for a necromancer possessing a old battle field to bolster his force’s.
Those look really good.
Yay! New expansions and backwards compatible revised rules. I wonder if they’re rolling out the old hero sculpts or we’ll get some new variants.
I bet we’ll get the updated sculpts that they have been putting out for the RPG
I’m not so sure the sculpts are updated. The only images they’ve been sharing are the original renders from the KS. I’ve not seen a picture of the actual minis yet. Hopeful we do get to see something new.
So following the link:
No Pinwheel in Tomb of the Giants but we do get giant skeletons and skeleton dogs.
Nice to see there’ll be minis for the phalanx in the painted world but I’m guessing not enough to make the whole phalanx, lol. Also those toxic hollows look cool and we get boneswheels! Also I’m getting flashbacks to farming Souvenirs of Reprisal from those harpies.
As a Dark Souls fan the miniatures are really nice, but,…
…although it’s good that they are reworking some of the rules, especially with the community, but for me, once bitten, twice I Died!
