War Of The Ring: The Card Game To Be Unveiled At UKGE
May 25, 2022 by fcostin
The War of the Ring range from Ares Games is expanding, bringing War of the Ring: The Card Game to our tables hopefully soon. It has been quite a while since the spinoff was announced, however, we won't have to wait too long for more information. As Ares has announced on Twitter that more details will be coming next week, including an unveiling of the title at UKGE.
War Of The Ring: The Card Game Announcement // Ares Games
The title was originally announced back in 2020, with a lot of speculation about what we can expect on the tabletop. Considering the strategy game by the same title, War of the Ring can be a lengthy board game experience. I imagine the card game will provide easier access to Lord of the Rings content over at Ares. Presumably, swapping out the dice for cards for a potential streamlined title?
The card game has been pitched as asymmetric, and there really are limited details out there to what we can expect. Other than the fact that the game design is sitting safely in the hands of Ian Brody, designer of Quartermaster General.
I will be certainly making a beeline for War of the Ring: The Card Game at UKGE. Ares has announced that we will have to wait until June 4th to find out more. So I will be eagerly awaiting the Saturday over at the Ares Games booth.

As a huge fan of ICE’s defunct ME:CCG, I always look forward to new card game systems in my favorite setting. None have yet dethroned that classic, but I welcome each attempt.
