LLOYD! Finally some quality train talk.
This episode was false advertising, @lloyd didn’t bring up one train.
lol – I did manage to squeeze one reference to trains into Sundays show – blink and you’d miss it 🙂
Still not sure about that redemptor, although it’s certainly better than the plastic contemptor.
“You could do an extreme version with D12s.”
LOL
No one uses D12s. Well, no one except barbarians, they do need hit points and great axe damage.
@dignity was right, analog computers were hypothetical in 1822 and reality in 1850’s. So something like the book The Difference Engine, by William Gibson and Bruce Sterling, could easily be around by the late 1870’s.

The Difference Engine, Gibson, W. and Sterling, B.:, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Difference_Engine
That is baced on the original design of the Analytical Engine. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Analytical_Engine
Happy Saturday!
Great Show as usual guys. loving all the Fabled Realms stuff, can’t wait to get playing 🙂 Now if only a certain combination of 6 numbers come out tonight…….!
It’s the Weekend!
Relacation level 1 achieved!
Milk for all!
A lot of things to look forward to again.
Ok last post for this weekender… maybe. The WarRoom is amazing to have. As a Warmahordes player I love the utility of the app: easy army building, easy bookkeeping during the game, easy rules look up, and up to date with the newest erratas. Granted I’m a technophile so, I have a bias toward using my tablet or phone to keep my army stats, I did think the cards were a great idea (compared to stacks of paper) when they came out; but now most people, and everyone I play Warmahordes with, have smartphones and/or tablets so I haven’t seen… Read more »
It’s the ghost of Weekenders past!
John going all detailed on his space marines?
Challenge accepted! Time for a space marine-off (or how do you call it)
Big Dreadnought [Aussie accent]: Call that a plasma cannon
Etc. and so on …
Now that’s a dreadnought
I’m doing pretty much what @johnlyons is doing and starting with 40k from scratch so I’m also tending towards only having Primaris marines in my Space Wolves army.
Dreadnought looks admittedly really awesome.. but I am still not infected by Space Marines fever yet.
Yet……..
I think gaming with the digital app ruin the tabletop experience. You play a tabletop game with a human opponent and with digital app there a disconnect there. Just like most smartphone user glue to there phone and cant even walk and talk at the same time
Happy Weekend!
Oh boy, the Primaris Marines are looking increasingly tempting the Dreadnaught looks awesome, bring on the Repulsor, and its many inevitable variants.
More Fabled Realms, Yahoo! The Trogkin sound real fun. Mmmm. Liquid Stone sounds like a fantastical form of concrete. “Horsedrawn Tank Thing”, well there are War-Wagons. Grimwald for Patrician! viva la revolution! Dragon Aircraft Carriers? Land-drake Cavalry? Yes Please!
WMG: Humans are the Precursors of The Fabled Realms?
No, No, Nope. No more Kicstarters for me, at least until Jone of Arc Legends comes up.
As Ever,m Great show Guys 😀
GW Kit designs are getting better and better.
The Redemptor Dreadnaught is looking more tempting. The initial pictures didn’t do it any favours as far as i’m concerned. I haven’t bought into W40K 8th yet, and it’s touch and go if i do as the whole thing with the army having a mix of Primaris and short Marines mixed together is looking like a bit of a mess. If i do decide to make something of it i’ll be using Primaris Squads, and if i do make some of the pre-Primaris squads, such as tactical squads, i’ll be using a combination of Primaris and short Marines to make… Read more »
I’d love an iPad app for the Batman Miniatures Game. In BMG, each model has a card which includes its stats and names of special rules (the actual special rules are scattered now into three different books). The card is also used during the game to allocate the action tokens and mark damage. Having this all done digitally would be so much nicer, wouldn’t take as much space and most importantly would make looking up the rules so much easier.
I bought a huge bundle of Wild West Exodus stuff about 18 months ago and I’ve got to say I was really unimpressed with the resins. The hard plastic stuff was great but the resins were poor quality wise. Many of the figures had holes in their feet, there was casting defects on many of the models. Very shoddy.
Solely on a miniatures basis I would not recommend Wild West Exodus.
Yay! Tickets for London Super Comic Convention!!!
The warroom app is an amazingly useful tool and arguably the best hobby money i have spent in a long time. Easy to build army lists, database for minis you own and have painted, check an opponents key models stats and abilities without having to interupt there turn and ask to see them, i honestly could keep going. Someone mentioned they feel apps cause disconnect during games but i have to disagree as apps like warroom, mansions of madness 2nd edition, the upcoming first martians board game enhance the game imo. The greatest disconnect in gaming is having to pause… Read more »
It’s a good point. If tech can speed up/keep a game moving with less flicking through a book I’m up for that 🙂
I wish more companies would embrace the digital revolution as something that can add considerably to a tabletop game.
E-book versions of rules are a tiny step.
Army list builders and campaign management are the next logical step.
Just a thought to put out there with regard to privateer press going down the app route for warmachine and hordes. Will it effect poorer families for example who have children that want to get into the game but they can’t afford to buy them the Ipads, tablets etc…. in order to do so? I even have friends that can’t afford to buy say for example an ipad of similar style tablet and are worried about this too.
Whilst ipads are expensive, you can get a tablet for a lot less. Warmachine itself is an expensive game to play, so if a cheaper tablet is out of your budget, then Warmachine will be too.
It’s not like wargaming is a cheap hobby …
but it would suck if the apps were non-optional for those of us who don’t want to buy an expensive tablet.
While there are cheap android tablets you do tend to get what you pay for (especially the suspiciously cheap chinese android clones … )
As a member of the @warzan age club, I to say to all of you, “get your damn digital cards off my lawn, I need to take a nap”
A great show the new dreadnought looks fantastic, fabled realms may be a fabulous game with mutable factions
