Space Hulk Hits Games Workshop Pre-Order With Extras!
September 13, 2014 by brennon
Games Workshop has put the rather anticipated Space Hulk up for pre-order on their website alongside a novella from Gav Thorpe exploring the Sin of Damnation story. As well as that you can check out a whole bunch of extras that bring Ultramarines, Dark Angels and Space Wolves into the conflict via digital means!
The first thing of note is of course Space Hulk itself which is more or less identical to the previous addition with a few more counters and different missions for you to undertake. Despite that however if you were looking for a massive overhaul you're not going to find it here. Still for those of you who missed out on it a few years ago this is your chance to pick it up.
As well as the game there is this new novella penned by the hand of Gav Thorpe who I'm sure will put some of you edge and indeed excite others. It tells the story of Space Hulk through the eyes of the Terminators and might be quite the cool companion to your games on the tabletop.
On top of the base game and novella there are a series of digital downloads that allow you to use Ultramarines, Space Wolves and Dark Angels on the tabletop instead of Blood Angels and if you're interested in a variety of different Space Hulk scenarios then this is certainly a good stop for you.
Will you be picking it up this time around?

Fond memories I will leave in the 1990’s.
Couldn’t agree more…don’t believe the hype folks!
What hype? Why not believe it?
Agh! I’m not *that* interested in the actual game because I know that my usual gaming buddies wouldn’t want to play BUT I’d totally pick up a set of the Terminators (or Nids!) if they were sold separately…
Just tried to order it and sold out !!!!!!!!
Wow, that was fast! I suppose we’ll never know how many they made, but if it sells out in less than 24hours it does make you wonder how many times more they could have sold.
I ordered mine yesterday but it seems to still be available on the US site tho it wouldn’t surprise me if it didn’t last long. I wonder how many of the copies they sold are to people who want to flip them on ebay for twice as much.
Could not resist this. Its a great game and a classic to own.
Have the 3 previous versions of this so won’t be picking this one up, but it’s a fine game. I don’t think it’s the second coming of wargaming as some are proclaiming (it was one amongst many good games designed by GW), but it’s worth picking up and the price-point seems just about acceptable.
Ah well it sold out. Never mind – Hawk Wargames can take my money
The add-ons being electronic only is a disappointment. I was thinking of getting these to add too my ’09 version, but I dislike electronic rulebooks, so I’ll pass. Sad panda!
Is there any form of single player in this version? Last version I had was 1989 which didnt have but I never looked too closely at the reissues.
Sold out already? If the demand is so high, I wonder why GW don’t just go for a full release rather than a limited one?
Because next time they do this, it will sell out again. Only next time it will be with an extra miniature, and it will be a tenner more.
Ho hum mist out again, what a shock limited again???
Well Ill give them that it is the best spacehulk rules they released, which is not that big accomplishment since the edition in between the first and this was….. not that great. I may leave them for just releasing the same game with a few tile updates, because the had to reprint the tiles anyway and retooling for miniatures was not really necessary. But 3 DLC? for 13 EU each? this is the commitment we will get for the product? Why not add 20-30 EU in the price and make them a worthwhile expansion, physical, with new minis and 3D… Read more »
Working hard to enforce their role as the industry weirdo ..
Pre ordered this morning. Space Hulk 2nd edition was my first ever miniatures game. It opened the door to this great hobby for me. I have very fond memories of blasting apart endless waves of ‘stealers, trying to get to those blasted bulkheads and sealing them off! I wasn’t much of a tactician when I played as the Terminators, but it was fun. I think I may have spotted the reason for it’s reappearance. In case you were not aware, Space Hulk first came out in 1989. This year marks 25 years since it came out. Coincidence? Please put this… Read more »
…or give it to someone like FFG. Actually, no. I want the cool minis. Put it on general release and support it with loads of new missions, chapters and campaigns. Bring on the Magus and Patriarch!
Was very tempted this time around – my old copy went missing during a house move a while back – then decided to invest my £70 in the Carnavale Kickstarter, still feeling sour about trying to get back into playing 40k with a £100 quid spend that is pretty much obsolete 6 months after purchase …
Had Space Crusade and loved it. Thought it wouldn’t be worth anything when found it a few years back so gave it to a charity shop. What an idiot. Pre-ordered this from Wayland as sold out of GW. But because I was arsing about on their live chat, moaning about the misleading “£5 off” but then getting hit with £6 shipping so it’s not really £5 and asking if it was worth ordering as it’s sold out on GW, to be told they had their stock already set a side so it will be fine. Then deciding to order with… Read more »
GW really have done a job on this. It was the game that got me into the hobby, absolutely love it. I delayed my decision to buy it, and what do you know too late. It’s going for up to £250 on e-bay, GW are a total disgrace, they deserve to go out of business with their total show on contempt to the people that made them what they are. Mantic and FFG can have my cash, thanks for nothing GW!
