Hit Show Vikings is Coming To Your Table From Catalyst
August 8, 2014 by deltagamegirl22
Catalyst Game Labs announced today that they have secured rights for board games on the wildly successful show Vikings. They will be launching 2 games based on the show so players can get in touch with their inner viking!
The first game is called Jarl: The Vikings Tile Laying Game, which is based on their popular tile, chess like game, Duke. Jarl will have players moving their tiles around the game board, flipping their tiles after each move. The tiles have different movement profiles on each side, which keeps the game very dynamic. When you end your turn on a space occupied with an opponent's tile, you capture that tile. Capture your opponent's Jarl, and victory is yours! This game will be published by the end of this year.
The second game will be produced after the release of Jarl, and will be Vikings: The Board Game. This game will be for 2-5 players, and really captures the feel and adventure of the show. The theme is as follows:
Each winter players will scheme to acquire appropriate resources while convincing heroes such as Ragnar Lothbrok, Lagertha, Rolo and Floki to support them as they put their longships in the water to raid each summer. Plunder treasures and foreign resources across modular tiles that ensure a different game each time you play, while completing offers to the Seer will ultimately lead a player to victory!
I can't wait to find out more about these at Gen Con! Would it be too much to hope to see some preliminary work?
Will you be donning your horned helmets and gaming as a Vikings?
