Shadows Of Brimstone Takes To The Forbidden Fortress On Kickstarter
November 2, 2016 by deltagamegirl22
The Shadows of Brimstone from Flying Frog Productions is taking to Japan in their latest Kickstarter, Shadows of Brimstone: Forbidden Fortress - a fully cooperative, dungeon crawl adventure board game that is totally compatible with the rich Shadows universe you've come to know and love.
Set in Feudal Japan, the Heroes must brave the Forbidden Fortress; a feudal castle overrun with all manner of Demons, Ghosts, and Monsters inspired by Japanese myth and legend. The massive Oni, red beast-like ogres wielding giant clubs, stalk the halls, while deadly Tengu sword masters descend from the skies with their raven wings to attack the Heroes.
Legions of Samurai Dishonored Dead rise from the grave, and writhing Acidic Tentacles burst from the floor to spit acid and feed on the Heroes with their razor sharp teeth.
But, at the heart of the fortress lie the most terrifying and epic foes of all; the Harionago, a ghostly, demonic woman, held aloft by the twisting strands of her animated hair, which is also used to entangle and slash at the Heroes with its vicious barbs, and the towering Living Statue, possessed by Darkness to break away from its posts, wreaking havoc and smashing the castle it was once built to protect!
The game includes twenty-seven multi-piece, hard plastic, 32mm minis for players to use as they take on the world of the Forbidden Fortress.
Being cooperative, the game is designed to let the players take on the baddies, who are controlled by the game itself. With 250 cards, double sided map tiles, and even a companion CD to stage the perfect game experience, players will be immersed in the Far East lore.
I LOVE the look of this. We had such a great chat with Scott at Gen Con this year. The art was beautiful and you could feel his passion for the game as he told us about its world. It's already mega funded, which means only great things for its backers. Bring on those stretch goals!
Will you be exploring the Forbidden Fortress?

There are alot of games coming out that are drawing on Japanese folk lore at the moment. I remember a time lloyd wanted to make a samurai army but couldn’t find many miniatures. Now is the time!
I backed the original Kickstarter, its a great game. Disappointed that I still haven’t received most of my pledge, but it was due to them receiving criticism for the miniatures, so they went back to the manufacturer to improve the models before wave 2 ships. Apparently it has improved a lot, which is good news.
So I’ve backed this one as well because it’s a great game, and hopefully now the quality of the minis will match quality of the game!
same great game just different mileu it seems. Still waiting on my first pledge I prefer the western take. not backing.
the oni look great.
