Ryan Laukat Has You Seeking Lost Adventurers In Roam
April 4, 2019 by brennon
Ryan Laukat seems to be on a roll at the moment with yet another game coming out from Red Raven Games this year. Roam has you searching for lost adventurers who have wandered off into the wilds.
The game, as you might imagine from any Red Raven project, is looking beautiful. It features characters that you might have met in Near & Far, Above & Below, and Islebound too for those that have been delving deeper into his series.
You and up to three other players will be travelling around the world of Arzium looking to find lost adventurers. This is done by activating adventurers within your own party which allows you to place tokens in the style dictated by their cards.
Once a landscape from the centre of the board has been completely covered the person who did the most work claims the card, claiming the adventurer and adding them to their party. This simulates covering the most ground and being the most effective.
Each adventurer added to your group gives you points at the end of the game and new patterns you can then employ to look for others. You can also claim coins during searching which allow you to use special actions and artefacts with useful powers. As soon as a party contains ten adventurers the game ends and the person with the most points wins.
What I like about this is that it involves a little bit of forward planning and push-your-luck too. Do you put all of your efforts into a particular landscape or will you spread out to try and capitalise on work done by others?
As a simple and interesting new addition to the Red Raven Games collection I think this one could find a spot in many a collection.
What do you think?
