River Horse’s Waterloo: Quelle Affaire! Goes Print & Play!

River Horse's Waterloo: Quelle Affaire! is a great board game by Alessio Cavatore that allows you to play one of the most epic battles in history. Whilst it hasn't been available for a while, you can now pick up a print-and-play version of the game from MyMiniFactory.

If you've not seen the game before, it's a hex-based board game that allows two players to take on the role of Wellington and the British going up against the French under the command of Napoleon. The forces in the game are activated by cards whilst you also have strategem cards which add more fun and unpredictability to the game. Cavatore has done a good job of getting all of the fun quotes in there from the battle and the movies about the battle. “By God, sir, I have lost my leg. – By God, sir, so you have.”

To win, you will need to destroy half the total combat strength of the enemy army. The French and the British are going to be going back and forth during the battle but if Wellington can last long enough for the Prussians to arrive, you might be able to tip the balance in your favour.
If you'd like to see the game in action, check out one of our Let's Plays where Alessio sat down and taught both Justin and Warren the game.

As well as featuring rules by Cavatore, you'll also be able to enjoy some nice artwork from Peter Dennis who is great at bringing historical periods to life. As mentioned, this is a print-and-play product so you'll get all of the digital files for you to print this at home or get someone to work on it for you.
Have fun getting stuck into some hex-based battling on the tabletop. Maybe you could even level it up with some small-scale miniatures in the future too?
Will you be getting your hands on this?

Can’t stand anything Cavatore does, so … no. Hard pass.
Oooooo, seems like a good gateway drug into Napoleonics! Please forgive my ignorance: on MyMiniFactory just under the title it has ‘3D’, but aren’t the game pieces of the original game just flat pieces of card(board)? So, what would I be printing? I was hoping to get just a couple of PDFs that I could feed to a 2D printer…
MyMiniFactory also provide digital files for PDFs so that why I assume River Horse are using them. I did think maybe there would be a printing service for it via Only-Games but it just seems like they’re using it to host the files as far as I’m aware.
