Pandemic: Rising Tide Announced By Z-Man Games
August 30, 2017 by brennon
A new version of Pandemic has been announced by Z-Man Games. The new take on the game, Rising Tide, sees you fighting against flood waters in the Netherlands rather than battling diseases.
Note: We are aware of the ongoing situation in America with Hurricane Harvey, as are Z-Man games, who have even pledged to put some of the proceeds of Rising Tide towards flood relief programs.
The game sees you taking on the role of the historic planners and builders who are trying to stop the encroaching sea waters and replacing old fashioned methods with up-to-date ones.
You will be building shelters, defences and trying to stop the flood waters from spilling over into nearby regions in a cooperative game experience similar to what you're familiar with when playing the regular Pandemic.
While of course the situation in America right now is terrible, this does sound like a nice twist on the original format.
Again, we extend our warmest hugs and best wishes to those BoW members and more who may have been affected by Hurricane Harvey (you can see a crisis area map HERE) and wish you all the best!
Do you think you'll be picking up this version of the game?

I don’t see why do you have to be apologetic, it’s just a game.
It would remind Americans that another country took the lessons it learned and did something about it …
The Delta Works are an incredible (and stupendously expensive) piece of engineering.

You’re right, BoW don’t have to apologise.
However, to calibrate a game that depicts the struggle in stopping the devastating effects of floods, while there is a real natural disaster occurring in which people have lost their lives and thousands of homes have been destroyed, could be viewed as insensitive.
I applaud BoW in how they have delivered this information.
There is a war in Ukraine and Syria, why don’t they apologise while reviewing another war game? The same with Pandemic Legacy released the year of Zika epidemic. It doesn’t make any sense, and I wouldn’t know about the storm if not for this post.
if global warming is getting as bad as they say this will be a good exercise for the real floods to/are coming.
This strikes me as being something that doesn’t sound at all interesting… But as something that must be interesting because it wouldn’t have got turned into a game if it wasn’t. Plus, Pandemic is just awesome.
So, I think I’d like to know more before I get it, but my hunch is that this could be weirdly good.
Cool …
It looks like they’re even including the effect of the rivers overflowing as well as the threat from the sea.
The disaster that made the Dutch government plan for the future was 64 years ago :

It is crazy that they feel compelled to apologize. Did you know over 1000 people have died this year from floods and monsoon season in Asia? where is the link here for that donation site?
As an American….I find this crazy. We are not the only people on this planet. Yes, it sucks this happened. But this tuff happens every year to tons of countries.
