The Rise Of The Titans Expansion Comes To Mythic Battles: Pantheon
November 27, 2016 by brennon
The massive Rise of the Titans Expansion has now been added to the pool of awesome goodies on the way for Mythic Battles: Pantheon. Let's take a look at the four different monstrous characters that are making a name for themselves as they struggle against the Gods.
Mighty Kronos
Kronos leads the way with his might scythe at his side.
It's fantastic seeing his bubbling rage coming forth with those model, wreathed in fire. He looks as if anger itself has come to life. You can tell why Zeus hated him so much...
His Scythe ability is great for clearing out all manner of different units from the spaces around him and with Tyrant he will be willing them to stay in their place. He also takes a lot to bring down and comes with a hefty amount of attack throughout his time on the board.
Mother Earth
Next up we have the mighty Gaia, Mother Earth herself. She has a wonderful model which might have taken some cues from the image of her in God Of War.
It's awesome seeing her coming out of the very earth beneath her feet and I could imagine her sending those roots out to rip her foes to pieces. In fact, that's just what she does.
Roots helps you control the flow of the game on the tabletop and Strength of the Earth benefits from you doing what you'd do anyway. Being able to heal makes her a fearsome character to face on the tabletop with a lot of staying power.
Enceladus
Being submerged in agonising pain for years by Athena you can imagine why Enceladus wants to get some revenge against the Goddess of Wisdom.
I'm not sure his model is the coolest of the bunch as I thought he had a really big nose for the longest time because of the artwork. Also his legs look a little bit spindly!
His Searing Heat ability is fantastic though and it means that he will be stomping right into the middle of the enemy formation. You should pay little heed to his pain as he starts to slosh around burning his enemies to ash.
Winged Typhon
Finally, we have the Titan known as Typhon who is one of the most deadly Titans to ever walk the Earth.
His model is fantastic and it's wonderful seeing where the imagination goes when it comes to making these creatures for the tabletop. Greek mythology sure is packed with all manner of quirky and interesting characters and monsters.
His statistics are pretty crazy across the board and he doesn't tend to get too worse off as the damage starts to tick up. Tempest gives him a certain amount of versatility when it comes to attacking his foes and Tornado adds an element of control to his playstyle too. Effectively he's going to be writing around the board causing chaos.
Are any of these Titans going to be a first pick for you?

Typhon, Typhon all the way for me 😀 . I am fine with taking the -4RP hit to beable to take him in a skirmish game against my friends. I love them all, Encaladus just needs a decent paint job to look a little less “goofy “, but give him some red, orange and yellow for the lava, set against the dark rock and he will be looking good.
Circe is next SG, in roughly 15k, so she should join the party today at some point.
I was just going for the base pledge, originally. Figured that I might end up getting the odd expansion at retail if I actually play the game. I’ve gone heavily into too many Kickstarters that I never end up playing, simply because I panic and think that I need all the expansions right away. This expansion might be the one to make me throw some more money at it, though! Simple maths, innit? Base pledge is the biggest no-brainer that I’ve ever seen, but the expansions only really have one exclusive model in them; retail, therefore becomes a possibility. The… Read more »
Wow, Daemon Primarch Mortarion!
I’d convinced myself I should go for the base pledge only – but this has broken me. I’m in.
I really like three of the models, but I’m not convinced by Enceladus. There is something a bit ’90s Nagash’ about his head.
It’s the top of an exploding volcano for a head! Whatever way you try to sculpt it, it’s going to look weird!
At least, that’s what I keep telling myself.
I just like the idea that this brings your titan total to 5 and the god total to (at least) 10. Those ratios make my brain happy.
Don’t intend to ruin your happyness mind mantra, @chillreaper, but for my beloved mistress Design’s rescue I need to intercede here. In some sense anyway. 😉 By nature there is almost everything possible in design. Accounting certain circumstances obviously. You might deliberately plegde your efforts to a certain cause (or use), tradition, discipline, style, philosophy, topic or otherwise preset theme or established characteristics, or the dimensions of your medium and the tech standard restrict you in some ways. Apart from that only your imagination, way of thinking, taste, inspiration and will limit your ideas in the first place. And then… Read more »
The stars are right.
Typhon literally is one of the great Old Ones …
Darn. *Now* they are bringing out the big guns. (Read: really interesting sculpts) Just great. How in three hells (ancient Greeks after all) am I supposed to a) get a credit card in the remaining few days (indeed one of those of the fabled lands where this isn’t standard), b) sink all those bucks into something I’d only truely would like to have about half of it (all the rules, boards, play tools, the RPG and only a distinct few of the models…) and c) decide which sort of pledge to go for considering the above (let’s not forget the… Read more »
I’m not completely sold on these, to be honest… but they’re interesting.
Titans are supposed to be huge and disturbing – all 4 of these qualify so I am glad to have them (plus Atlas of course).
I am liking way those four models look.
Typhon wasn’t a Titan. Like Encaeledus they were the monsters Gaia objected to being locked in the depths of Tartarus like the Gigantes and the Hecatoncheires. Ouranus, The Titans, and the Olympian Gods ALL agreed on keeping most of these things imprisoned. Olympians let the elder cyclopes out at least. The Monsters sought to over throw the gods just as the Titans were over thrown by the Olympians, and Ouranos was overthrown by the titans. They did this at the urging of their mother Gaia who mourned to see them locked away in darkness. Most ended up buried under volcanic… Read more »
Gaia isn’t a Titan God either. In the Greek tradition it was Typhon who was buried under Aetna. In the Roman tradition it was Enceladus (the Greek has no dipthong so I don’t believe it should be Encelaedus in Latin) who was buried Aetna instead.
All of that said, ‘Titan’ has a broader gameplay use in Mythic Battles.
*Encaeledus
Ooh they look good gaia is very miffed looking someone is going to be hurting.
This is the first bunch that I’m not completely blown away by. Enceladus is a miss for me, and some of the other ones I’m lukewarm on.
I have gone for the typhon pledge. I love Kronus and typhon but both Gaia and encaeledus are still maybes for me. I think I am going to add a bit of green stuff to both of them. I think Gaia’s dress needs to be more organic so I am going to add some moss and ivy texture to it and I think encaeledus would look better with a Greek style stone helmet with lava pouring out of the eye slits and mouth. I have mentioned this on the kick starter campaign but no result sadly… except these 2 titans… Read more »
