Renegade Game Studios, alongside the folks from Avalon Hill and Hasbro, are releasing some new versions of the Axis & Allies board game for you to sink your teeth into. There are two new World War II era games that you can pre-order right now focusing on The Battle Of The Bulge and Stalingrad.

Axis & Allies Battle Of The Bulge - Renegade Game Studios

Battle Of The Bulge will see a release in May 2025 and features the German tanks rolling through the Ardennes and coming up against the exhausted American troops. The Allies will see two players fighting for control of territory and watching over their supply lines as they face shortages during this gruelling campaign.

You'll be able to direct infantry, artillery, tanks and aircraft during one of the key conflicts of World War II with all of the key Axis & Allies mechanics you've come to know, boiled down to a smaller clash on the tabletop.

The same goes for Axis & Allies: Stalingrad which moves the fighting from the Ardennes to the ruined urban sprawl on the Eastern Front.

Once again, two players will be able to dive into a clash between the German forces (and some of their allies) as they clash with Soviet forces. Much like with Battle Of The Bulge, the focus is on a tighter conflict rather than the broad strokes of World War II you would have got in the larger games of Axis & Allies. This will be no less brutal and cutthroat though with you having to make some key decisions at the right times to swing the war in your favour.

There is a rulebook available for Battle Of The Bulge if you're interested in seeing how the game plays. You can grab the Battle Of The Bulge Rulebook on the link here and get stuck in. Stalingrad isn't going to be available until August 2025 so you might have to wait a little bit before you can snap up the rulebook for that.

Axis & Allies With A Twist

If you're not so taken by the idea of World War II strategic wargaming then you can also check out a couple of alternatives from Renegade Game Studios. You could go for G.I. Joe: Battle For The Artic Circle for example.

Powered by the same base mechanics of Axis & Allies, this will see two to four players using over 100 plastic miniatures to play out a conflict on air, land and sea to control Cobra's base at the North Pole. Admiral Keel-Haul and Snow Job lead the Joes against Cobra Commander and Destro in an effort to destroy their base and save the world.

Fantasy fans might want to also get a look at an alternative in the form of Axis & Allies: Battle For The Deep.

This is another game for two to four players where four different factions, the Undersea Kingdom, Leviathans, The Protectors and Denizens Of The Deep fight for control of an undersea world. Battle For The Deep turns into a team-based game where you ally with a different faction in order to see if you can stake a claim on this empire beneath the waves.

These are all nice to see and it's good that Axis & Allies gets some classic World War II campaigns to play out as well as the very different outings in the form of G.I. Joe and Battle For The Deep. There is plenty that can be done with the game and its mechanics.

What do you make of these new versions of the game coming out in 2025

"There is plenty that can be done with the game and its mechanics..."
