Get Racing With Heat: Pedal To The Metal From Days Of Wonder
July 4, 2022 by brennon
Asger Harding Granerud and Daniel Skjold Pedersen have joined forces with Days Of Wonder for a brand new racing board game. Heat: Pedal To The Metal is coming later this year and will put you in the driving seat of classic 1960s-style racing cars on the tabletop.

Using simple hand management mechanics, you will be racing on the tabletop to cross the finish line first. You'll need to keep an eye on your car's speed and avoid overheating if you want to come out in front. Additionally, you can upgrade and tweak your cars in order to benefit from better handling in the corners or maintaining a top speed for longer.

As well as being able to play a single race with your friends, you can also play a championship season in one game night. You will customise and upgrade your cards between games in an effort to win across successive outings.

When it comes to the tracks you tackle, it won't be as simple as a nice sunny day on the tarmac. You will have to contend with different weather and road conditions and other events that will spice up your races.

I love that we're getting maps for Great Britain, France, Italy and the US that feel like they offer up very different tactical challenges for racers. As a fan of Formula D, it will be fun seeing just what they do differently with this to make it worth adding to the collection.
As a bonus, Days Of Wonder has also noted that there is a solo mode as part of the Legends Module. Automated drivers will then offer up additional opponents in your games, allowing you to get to grips with the game on your own.
Are you going to be picking this up?
