Rebellion Unplugged has hit Kickstarter with another awesome board game project that we've been quite taken by. Race and wreck your way to victory with their new game of vehicular mayhem, JOYRIDE: Survival Of The Fastest.

In JOYRIDE, you play as racers who are trying to get to the end of the race using whatever means necessary. That means barging, shoving, skidding and skilfully manoeuvring around the race track whilst getting access to loads of upgrades like mines, nitro boosts and oil slicks which can be used to scupper the plans of your opponents.

The game can be played with just two players going head-to-head but you can take it all the way up to four players for some proper chaos on the track. JOYRIDE can also be played at different levels of complexity where you can throw in specialised driver abilities and such to make your races interesting each time you sit down to play. It also features the gorgeous artwork of Pye Parr throughout which properly enhances the experience.

If you'd like to see the game in action, check out our Let's Play below...

How To Play Joyride: Survival Of The Fastest! 2-Player Game

This will give you a good idea of how the game plays although you might question the tactics of some of our drivers! Whilst this shows a pre-set scenario, you have free reign to create your own racetracks and play around with the modularity of the game set-up in order to make more deadly (or friendly!) tracks for your racers.

JOYRIDE: Survival Of The Fastest - Pledges

There are a couple of options for you to choose from when it comes to diving into JOYRIDE. You can go with the dedicated two-player set that you see below called DUEL Next Gen which comes with all the components you need for two-players to get stuck into some action on the tabletop.

I love the style of the cars as those neat wooden blocks (although I bet a bunch of people are going to swap them out for Matchbox Cars or something given the chance). All of the tokens, dice and other accessories are great and properly help you slot into the world that Rebellion Unplugged have created.

You can level up your experience and get your hands on the JOYRIDE: Survival Of The Fastest pledge which gets you the two-to-four set for a bigger road-rage-filled experience on the tabletop. What's nice about everything that you've seen so far is that it is entirely cross-compatible. The Duel set and this larger one can be mixed and matched as much as you like.

You'll note that both of the above pledges get you access to the games but you won't get additional Stretch Goals alongside them. Still, if you just want to get your hands on the game and have fun, this is the way to go I reckon. I think I would go with the £50 pledge myself.

If you want to go BIG then you can also get your hands on the Turbo Boosted Pledge!

This comes with the two-player set, the standard four-player set, the Big Day Out expansion more maps to race around AND you also get all of the Stretch Goals that are unlocked over the course of the campaign. That could mean more weapons, racers, modifications and more.

If you're a fan of Mad Max and the like or just love the idea of a "all-in-one" Gaslands-type game to play with your friends, this seems like a solid pick. We got to see this game at UK Games Expo this year and it was pretty ace. Additionally, there is another four-player game coming up on our YouTube channel so watch out for that!

Will you be getting stuck into JOYRIDE: Survival Of The Fastest?
