PSC Games has launched their Gamefound campaign for their newest board game project. Total War: Rome - The Board Game is going to bring all of the tactical and strategic challenges of the PC game to the tabletop for some Ancient warmongering!
Total War: Rome - The Board Game // PSC Games
In Total War: Rome - The Board Game, one-to-four players will take on the role of the Roman Empire or one of the other titans of the Ancient era. You could find yourself playing as the Greeks, Carthaginians or Gallo-Germania, knocking on the door of the Empire that spans most of Europe and beyond.
Much like the PC strategy game, the board game will have you fighting for control of territory with your armies, establishing trade routes and alliances, backstabbing your "friends" and expanding and upgrading your access to technology.

Each faction has its own strengths and weaknesses as well as routes to victory. You'll be doing a mix of larger map-based campaigning throughout the game as well as intense dice-based battles where you pit your units (which can be upgraded and tweaked!) against each other.
If you're interested in learning more about the rules then you can download their Main Rulebook, BattlePlay Rules & Solo Rulebook for yourself to learn more. A twenty-eight-page main rulebook for a game of this scale and scope isn't too bad at all!
The campaign has already been funded and that means access to loads of additional bits and pieces for you to dive into. You can throw in eight new factions to play as for example!
Total War: Rome - The Board Game Expansions // PSC Games
The Alexander Expansion moves things a little further East (much like the digital expansion did for the game) and you also have ways to add in upgraded BattlePlay components and in-fighting amongst the forces of Rome. Why not battle for control of the Empire that you've fought so hard to craft?
Backing now via Gamefound also gets you access to other options...

So, it might be a good idea to dive in here and consider picking up the game now if you were already sold on the concept. It seems to be doing a decent job of getting across the feel of the digital game but on the tabletop. Plus, a lot of folks love their big strategic board games with lots of moving pieces. At only 150 minutes per game it also seems like it might not dominate your weekend either as Twilight Imperium does!
Are you tempted by Total War: Rome - The Board Game?

Sounds a lot like “RISK: Rome” with extra steps 😉
More like : “Risk … but with proper strategy ” 😉
Loved the intro video remined of the powermonger one, not got that Total War game I’m not sure if it will make a entertaining board game in my opinion.
I’ll be honest, I’ll end up buying this game no matter what
Great Total War game, the Alexander expansion for the game was a righ t pig to play, damn hard it was.
More interested than I thought I would be, though financially I can’t seen the incentive to back it here and not wait until retail – except for the Roman civil war expansion . Seems to essentially run as a Meg light system for combat. The mini battle game is what gets me most excited.
As well as the game, it’s great to see companies opting for GameFound rather than Kickstarter. A crowdfunding platform dedicated to gaming, what a time to be alive
