Privateer Announce Special Level 7 Omega Protocol Kickstarter Edition
October 9, 2018 by brennon
Privateer Press has announced that they are going to be working on bringing back Level 7 Omega Protocol with a new edition on Kickstarter.
For those of you who don't know...
OMEGA PROTOCOL is a tactical miniatures-based board game for 2-6 players set in a secret government facility that has been overrun by an alien menace that threatens the existence of all humanity. The Kickstarter campaign for the new edition will give backers the opportunity to acquire not only the updated game but also bonus contents and even a copy of the game’s sequel, EXTREME PREJUDICE.
The Kickstarter will be a very short burst on the funding platform running from October 15th through to October 31st.
“Ever since OMEGA PROTOCOL sold out in 2016, we’ve received numerous and frequent inquiries about when it might come back,” says Privateer Press’ owner and Chief Creative Officer Matt Wilson. “But we can’t gauge an accurate demand on a reprint through traditional channels, and speculating on a new print run for a product of this size is too risky, so we’re turning to Kickstarter as a tool to determine the true demand and whether or not there is enough to warrant a second edition.”
As well as the contents of the original game it looks like the game is also going to feature plenty of bonus content as well. Those who own the original game can still get involved in the project and buy some of the additional bonus bits and bobs with special pledge levels.
If the uptake is good on their project then Privateer Press might then go the extra step and make this 2nd Edition of the game available to a wider audience.
Are you going to be giving this a look?

Seems interesting enough.
Interesting, I wonder if they plan on resculpting the models.
Please! Better plastic figures and larger poker sized cards. The first edition of the game “Escape” was forgettable. The second try “Omega Protocol” was better but the component quality including the figures were terrible. It was the first time I has to use hot water for every single figure because they were warped so bad. Finally, the Adrenaline tokens either have to bigger and thicker, wood or plastic. They get passed around a lot and after some time they easily became frayed. I ended up putting them in coin Capsules to save them but I rather not. This has the… Read more »
I’m interested in this but I’m also interested in Claustrophobia (which I just read has been delayed to November) and Everain, so I’ll see what, if anything at all I will back.
Sound’s a good game that never took people their interest’s the halo, kill team, route.
Privateer is big enough to not really need to do this. Hopefully its a fun game, with better minis then the first edition. If I could just buy the minis I would be happy.
No it really isn’t, they are in a similar position to Mantic and Steam forged, if they invest captital into something new which doesn’t sell they are in trouble. In the last few months they have cancelled No Quarter as it is no longer financially viable for them to do and have pushed the boat and gambled heavily on Monsterpocalypse selling, they percieve that they need a bigger footprint beyond warma/hordes but don’t really have too much capital to try too many risky things, I don’t begrudge them using Kickstarter for this (I would for release a new faction in… Read more »
Is this foray into old-new games by PP over the past months an indicator that Warmachine is running out of steam? I don’t have a stake or interest one way or the other, but from the outside all this does look a bit strange.
