Prepare for Diplomacy and Betrayal in Fantasy Flight’s Rex

Fantasy Flight Games have previewed their upcoming board game. Rex, a game of diplomacy and betrayal for the city of Mecatol Rex.
Rex, a board game of negotiation, betrayal, and warfare for three to six players. Set 3,000 years before the events of Twilight Imperium, Rex tells the fateful story of once-proud Mecatol City in the months and years following the death of the last Lazax emperor.
In Rex players take control of one of six races and compete for control. Take over key locations to gain Influence, which can then be used to get Strategy Cards and move your troops around the board.
I am thoroughly intrigued by this game and would really like to give it a go. It strikes me that the board's layout looks rather similar to Arkham Horror, though the game itself promises to be different.

I have been meaning to pick up Twilight Imperium for a while and I am a big fan of Arkham Horror which I play regularly with my friends. This looks like it has elements of AH with a scifi theme so it is definately an interesting release from FFG.
They always make their games to a very high quality standard with lots of gameplay depth so I am sure this one won’t be disappointing.
Yes, FFG do make some of the best games on the market. Nice to see a game spin off from one of the coolest games thay made.
I’ll probably pick this one up. I wonder how closely they adhered to the original rules (it’s based on the mechanics of the old Dune boardgame) and what changed along with the theme.
