Let’s Play: Mythic Battles – Blood Tide
December 18, 2017 by dignity
Leo, from Mythic Games, moderates a battle from the recently shipped Mythic Battles: Pantheon - Poseidon Expansion, between Az and Justin.
In case you missed it Mythic Battles: Pantheon is a miniatures boardgame where the old gods of ancient Olympus are fighting to become the new leader of the pantheon.
Taking to the tempestuous seas Az must sail out with his army of brave mortals and fight Justin's oceanic horrors.
If you'd like your own set of boat models you can find them here and the Facebook page that Leo mentions here.
Have any of you tried the Poseidon Expansion yet?

Boo, hiss 😉 😀 .I’m still waiting for the Core Box to arrive 🙁 , which should’nt be long into January once the holidays are done with. I simply can’t wait for it to hit my doorstep.
Although I enjoy these battle reports I really don’t see the point of showing off a game no one can buy
I feel you @giantpaul as I think a retail release would be ideal for the game. The project did have >13,000 backers who may enjoy the video, plus I think the guys at Mythic Games are awesome and did a great job with the game so to ignore it wouldn’t be great for the industry in my opinion. Also, “Mythic Battles” in name could return in the future with other settings so it’s good to show people what Pantheon is like in case anything exciting or even another KS run comes in the future. But hey, we’re all about variety… Read more »
Are you going to squeeze and squeeze to make it flow?
Things go badly if there isn’t any spice.
I future game is already in the works. As those who have received their core box have already seen a secret of things to come 🙂
Wave II is shipping and if everything works out I should my entire pledge on Friday.
Why can’t we buy it? Just checked back and this expansion is list as $59 with a retail price $75
I know there have been lots of updates but did I miss one saying this will not be at retail?
If we are just talking about not for sale yet then you could say that for all Kickstarter games and I for one enjoy seeing these let’s plays so I can make myself a nice list of things to buy in the future 😉 when I win the lottery of course 😀
Variety is the spice life, ask any swinger
Where is my core box MB?
I think there’s a lot of interest in these videos at the moment, both from people who have received the game, and from those like me (sniff) who are still waiting on it.
The ability to order more copies of this game / expansions from an online store would be great though.
Great game, you almost had him Az. Good tactic Justin with keeping Achilles in the same area as Polyphemus.
A fantastic scenario – the boat mechanic adds yet another twist to the many. Very well played guys – tense to the very end!
What a great game ! So BOW when will see a boot camp ?sooooooonnn please !
Alas, currently, it will not be available to buy so no bootcamp either.
Aren’t those boats going backwards? Ram is in the front. Sails are backwards?
Great game, but you are use the stern as the bow.
I thought I noticed a few times that Justin’s additional rolls (i.e. a five looking for another 3 in order to make an eight) were being turned into ones for other rerolled fives. Is that allowed? Example: I roll two fives and the rest are blanks. I’m wounding on an eight so I reroll the two fives looking for threes. I roll a two and a one. Is that two failures or a five plus two plus one from the extra dice?
According to the rule book if any fives are re-rolled the result is added to the fives. If a blank is rolled than its a miss and the die roll is discarded. In your example if you rolled a two and a one then it would be 5 + 2 = 7 and 5 + 1 = 6, if you need 8 than both are failures because all the rest of the dice that were rolled initially are blank. If a 5, 5, 2, and a 1 were rolled than the 5’s can be re-rolled the 2 and the 1… Read more »
Seems scenario is badly broken once you know one monster can automaticslly throw a God into another taking the God out for the rest of the game.
I could only afford the base pledge. I so hope, there’ll be an opportunity to buy the addons at some point. Would love this one!
Thanks for the play through
@thisisazrael It was really hard to decide which expansion to pick for MB:P as I wanted them all, however my wallet said “hold on, there what about food?”. As this game doesn’t hit retail, do you have any insight news that the expansions might be re-released with their next KS? I heard about some kind of MB Norse style 😉
Great game by the way, these Let’s Plays give a real spice to workdays 🙂
That was an epic battle. All my gaming friends who didn’t get on to the kickstarter will see and play this game.
So sad that this will not go to retail.
Another top game. Az did well – Justin is a pretty skilful player of MB:P these days.
All I need now is my pledge. Please Santa – there’s still time!
Sad I didn’t back this one, (and mostly because the setting just doesn’t appeal to me) as the videos all show the game mechanics to work really well and the sculpts are lovely. This was a very exciting battle right to the end. I know the phrase “cinematic” get’s used a lot to describe many games, but I think this video shows that MB:P is really deserving of that description, it all feels very thematic and epic throughout.
